Tasty but expensive with bad service thrown in... - Edit
The food we had was really tasty, came out in good time - but really very expensive (in our opinion) for what we had - 2 mains 2 drinks $63...
Read moreThe vegan tax is high here.
But the really sad part is the bad service from the staff - disinterested and rude.
Also we had to wait a long time for requested dessert menu, we then deliberate on which dessert we would like, only to be told that the one we want is not availble and then 5 others that also were not availble... you think they could of told us this up front and save all a waste of time.
Disappointed we chose to pay and leave.
Might return, as the food was very very good... but probably unlikely due to the above issues.
Its important to support more vegan options, but the bad service really drops the ball here, the management need to sort it out asap.
Pros: Tasty food , Lots to choose from, Easy parking
Cons: Expensive, Terrible service, Lack of upfront info about what is/isn't available

Super Disappointed - Edit
We came in for lunch and wish we would've went to another place. The service was very slow to begin despite there being 3 servers and only 3 other tables. We ordered drinks and an appetizer which took a while but we waited. During this wait time we put in our meal order, too. We got our first stuff and figured it wouldn't be too long until our meals came. We waited almost an hour and nothing. Nobody came by to check on us or anything. Other tables came in after us got their meals and left. We finally got someone's attention and asked where our food was. They were lost. The server went looking and talked to the cooks. She spoke loudly in Spanish and obviously didn't realize we also spoke Spanish (had spoke English the whole time) and she was arguing with the cooks and they didn't make our order and she didn't pay attention to her customer so they both messed up. She came back and told us there was an issue with the vegetables for the tacos, big lie. She said they were making our order now and are very fast. 45 more minutes go by and we get our Quesadilla and Tacos. Literally all we ordered and took almost 2 hours. The whole staff could tell how upset we were and did nothing. The food wasn't even good either. The vegetables that apparently had been a problem were gross and soooooo salty I could barely eat it. If I wasn't so darn hungry I wouldn't have ate them. After 2 hours and being lied to they didn't even offer us a discount or just to take one of our drinks off for the mess. I couldn't believe the horrible experience. Would never ever go back or recommend this to anyone. There are WAY better places in LA Fotuna. Plus, way cheaper!

Non genuine experience - Edit
The owner should engage polite and respectful personal. I entered the place, asked for a menu in spanish with prices in colones. The guy in charge answered : "Only english here". I said that it was a pity. After that, the guy became completely crazy and disrespectful. I have a wonderful experience by traveling in Costa Rica. Ticos are wonderful people. But this veggie restaurant probably owns the only exception to the wonderful mindset of Pura Vida. #Veganuary

GF Banana Pancakes!!! - Edit
We ate here almost every day we were in La Fortuna! I loved the banana pancakes (vegan & gluten free & yummy!) and the chocobanano smoothie. My hubby really enjoyed the tico burrito. We didn't explore all the options on the menu because we loved our pancakes and burrito so much.

The best food I had in CR - Edit
Although everything isn’t vegan, the vegan menu is expansive and delicious. The restaurant is also pretty and has a little shop with clothes and food items. It’s pricier than other cafes in the area, but worth the healthy ingredients.

$47 for 2 coffees, 2 milkshakes and a juice - Edit
I’d give it a skip. We had 2 iced coffees and 2 milkshakes. We missed the line in the menu about the $8 milkshake / $6 coffee being plus 13%tax and 10% service charge. Costa Rica isn’t cheap but this was absurd.

Fresh, delicious! - Edit
Half of the menu is vegan! The food and smoothies are absolutely delicious. We came back two days in a row! They have a shop in the back- boutique style and sell an array of whole/health food and supplements up front. The staff are very friendly. Indoor open air seating with lots of plants. I recommend the chocobanana smoothie and the garden salad . My partner got the falafel and loved it and the bread is fresh

Mixed experience - Edit
Partly great and partly mediocre. We liked the vibe but the food was inconsistent. The tico burrito was just fantastic. I would eat it every day if I could. But the avocado toast was horrible—it was untoasted bland multigrain bread with a watery tasteless avocado sauce on top. Extremely disappointing. We had several iced coffee drinks which were okay but nothing special.

Creative plant-based menu - Edit
Loved this cute restaurant! Everything we tried -- including the nachos and the peace and love bowl -- was delicious. Creative flavor combinations. The coffee and smoothie menus also look great.

Delicious and refreshing change - Edit
We have been in Costa Rica for 3 weeks, and while we love traditional food, we were desperate for a change. The food here is freshly sourced and delicious. Great plant based options on the menu, and many are gluten free.

Bit bland but big menu - Edit
We are here twice, sure it’s a novelty to find such a variety of fresh vegan food in Costa Rica but to be honest we found the food overpriced and bland in flavour. $10 for a smoothie that is majority ice&water. I thought I’d give it a go for a second time thinking I’d just ordered badly, but disappointed 2nd time too.

Ok food - Edit
A lot of veg options, fresh food. It is however quite pricey and the food was lacking some flavour. My salad included vegan cheese but the quantity of it was really small.

Could be all vegan - Edit
Honestly, the vegan menu is so big! It’s actually such a shame they have a small portion of the menu with meat, because they could definitely be all vegan with all the choices they offer that are plant-based. I came here twice (so far) and it was great. I had the garden salad once (fresh, delicious) and the green energy smoothie, and had the avocado toast as well (tasty). It’s very well located and the place itself is cute. They also offer takeaways.
