So great! - Edit
This was such a lovely experience. The restaurant feels really homely and the lady who waited on us was very nice. The food was really delicious and generous on portions. We ordered the lunch special which was a Japanese macrobiotic menu consisting of rice, pickles and a number of small dishes. One of my favourite meals in Japan. I can't remember the exact cost but it was reasonable.

Glad we found this place - Edit
It wasn't easy to find (the position on the map is correct, so search around for the alleyway) but I'm glad we found it. The menu was small, but the food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Tasty options - Edit
Organic house salute is a great safe place for a vegetarian or vegan in Kyoto. I ordered the lunch set on two different days and the food was varied and tasty. It cost about 1600 yen for the lunch set, a coffee, and a dessert. There is a small selection of food items for sale as well, some coffee and nuts and coconut oil and pasta. As others have mentioned it is a little tricky to find. There is another restaurant/bar at the intersection of the main alley and small residential alley that you must turn into. Once you've turned into the residential alley, you need to make a right in about 100 feet onto a sidewalk that goes in between some homes, you will recognize the building with the restaurant from some photos that others have posted. They have a selection of smoothies as well as meal sets. The only thing I would say is that after a few weeks in other Japanese cities where I didn't have so much luck finding good veggie options, I could have eaten twice the amount of food that came in the lunch set! I will definitely go back.

Tasty Vegan, macrobiotic , raw options - Edit
Location: in a small lane off Kitsubashi-dori , directly behind the parking lot of the Kyoto Tower hotel annex. The Kyoto Tower hotel annex is 2-3 mins walk from Kyoto main station, and the Post Office. At the corner of Shinmachi-dori , and Kitsubashi-dori , at the hotel, turn right and walk one half block past the parking lot . You'll see a sign for a shop/ building "Nadia," and a narrow alley entrance on the right. That is the lane for Salute restaurant , located in a wooden townhouse Machiya with a sign and menu board in front, right at the bend in the lane. (. In fact, when you are walking past the hotel parking lot, you can see the townhouse behind the lot 's back fence; you just have to go into the lane to get to it, past some other small houses.)

Menu /Ambiance: organic groceries for sale at the entrance , table and tatami seating , view of the back garden. Lunch set or 2 or 3 other vegan meals, such as tofu quiche, or veg curry , approx 900 yen. Smoothies, teas, coffee, sweets, and dinner too. There's an English picture menu. Salute is Friendly and peaceful with Delicious food, quick service , moderate portions. The raw cocoa & cashew smoothie was delish, as was the lunch set.

cute and healthy - Edit
We had some trouble finding it, and we're in a bit of a rush to catch a train, but enjoyed a fairly quick lunch here. English menu available. Flavors were a bit mature for my 5yo gaijin but not bad.

Delicious veggie delight! - Edit
With photos and the directions on this site, we were able to find the house no problem. The lady working there was so sweet and welcoming. It is very small on the inside, so we were glad we had put our luggage in lockers! Much like most small restaurants in Japan. The menu had roughly 5 set options. My husband had the vegan curry set and I had the pita set. My set came with a green smoothie! Both were very tasty. We were still slightly hungry after, but as typical Americans we are usually hungry after every meal in Japan. ;) Part of that is due to starving for days with no where to eat. Kyoto is our haven for vegan and vegetarian food and we just added the Organic House Salute to our list of stops for Kyoto. There are a few organic goods you can purchase there in the restaurant.

comforting awesome veganness - Edit
This restaurant was a comfort and joy to me after spending a week not knowing how to find vegetarian cuisine in Tokyo. Organic House Salute is nestled in a tricky-to-find residential area, but the search was totally worth it. My family and I tried three of their main set meals- the curry, pita salad, and some sort of mixed plate set. It was delicious and hearty! we also had dessert- everything was lovely and vegan. The place was also very calm inside- it seemed like a traditional Japanese home turned into a restaurant. The vegan cheesecake with chocolate swirls was the best dessert (and Im vegetarian meaning I eat regular cheesecake- so that's saying a lot). Loved this place. I recommend it.

delicious fresh food - Edit
The location is quite hard to find, but it's a really nice traditional japanese house. I had the special lunch set of the day and it was delicious! Fresh, raw, extra ordinary meal. The raw cake was great too. They have a huge selection of really tasty looking raw cakes. I loved it and definitely want to go there again.
