Japanese store that carries onigiri rice triangles snacks (seaweed wrapped around sushi rice) most of which are vegan. Flavours include plain, sesame and seaweed, pickled plum with shison leaf, fermented soybean with scallion, pickled mustard leaves, roasted garlic and sesame in spicy soy sauce, sliced garlic fried and marinated in 11 spices and inari. Open Tue-Sun 11:00am-6:00pm.

The inari filled one is very tasty. They also have an umi (sour plum) that is good if they run out of the inari options (which the often do). They are very cheap and because they are pre-wrapped, they make a good grab-and-go snack or meal when you are exploring downtown Victoria. The biggest downside is that the plastic wrapper is not biodegradable so it has to go in the trash. I hope to see this changed in the future to biodegradable corn-based packaging.

I first came across Onigiri when I travelled to Hawaii and was so happy when I heard they were available here in Victoria.
Read moreI tried the majority of the vegan varieties. My favorite was the garlic sesame but the picked varieties were also really good. I am sure the KFG (marinated and fries garlic with spices are really good too - I just can't have them).
The manager was really nice too.
