Delightful cafe - Edit
Updated review from March 2024
Read moreOne for the Crow is still one of my favourite cafes and I come here every few weeks. I still love the venue and the food is still delicious following a change of ownership. My favourite is scrambled tofu on toast though other options are delicious too. Love that I can get an iced mocha with vegan icecream. Staff are friendly and helpful. I plan to keep coming back!
Review from 2018
Light filled with plants adorning the cafe, it is a lovely environment in which to enjoy a meal. We had a cookies and cream milkshake (with soy milk and soy icecream) which was great. The big breakfast and Salad Special were delicious too. There were lots more things on the menu I'd like to try including the vegan waffles. Prices were reasonable compared to similar cafes. Staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting again!

Might be our new local - Edit
I asked if there vegan menu options and was very pleased to hear that this cafe is totally vegan except for some cows milk for coffees, if that's what floats your boat. Good range of menu options, chatty team, prompt service, nice food. GFO for some of the beads, too. What was there not to like? Will definitely go again and meet mates there for a weekend coffee and breakfast next time. I think we found our new local having moved recently to a nearby 'burb.

Good, but could be better with refinements - Edit
Ordered the Korean bibimbap bowl. The chickun was great! (shredy chewy texture). Pretty sure it’s one of those imported frozen Asian brands. Could have used more spice. The vegan egg tasted of nothing (and was an extra $5). Needs black salt and a runnier yolk. Came with a side of a chili vinegar, which was not hot and kinda weird. Shredded carrot and broccoli pretty boring. Some avocado would be great addition. Portion small and I wasn’t full. Probably wouldn’t rush back as it’s off the beaten track and a tad expensive for what you get.

Great cafe - Edit
The food is consistently good here. I come every 5 weeks or so and I usually order the chilli scrambled eggs or the pancakes.
Read moreThis time, I tried something different and ordered the chicken burger with a 'honey' glaze. I was a bit disappointed, but I think that was because I usually get something other than burgers. My husband ordered the daily burger special (always does as he loved their burgers!), which was satay chick'n.
The smoothies are fantastic too!

Amazing vegan eggs - Edit
The vegan fried eggs look incredible and taste delicious. I’ve been twice and enjoyed both meals, especially more recently when I had the egg & bakon roll (so yum!). The outside area is really lovely on a sunny day.

The vegan bacon & egg role is incredible, in-house made egg which cannot be replicated! It’s delicious, best I have had.

Tasty! - Edit
Super friendly staff! Tasty food overall, the facon could have been a big crispier and my partner had to remove the lettuce from their sandwich as it was quite dry, but the vegan egg made up for it!

Favorite Melbourne Cafe - Edit
This is hands down my favorite Melbourne Cafe. The whole menu is vegan and they offer cow milk coffee. I find this makes it easy to take my non-vegan friends and family here though.

Best chikn - Edit
The chikn is SO good here, the texture is perfect. I had it in the chikn sandwich today (which thankfully doesn't have alfalfa sprouts anymore). Have had it as part of the kentucky fry up in the past, but they were sold out today. They seem to sell out of that alot.
Read moreWe also had the birria taco special, which my partner thought was too soft (as it wasn't deep fried, which is how it's traditionally prepared). It was filled with beef (too soft/spongey TVP, mushroom, cheese (really nice and melty), and onion. The accompanying cashew eggplant dip was a nice creamy texture. I thought this dish was a bit pricey, and not very filling if you had a decent appetite.
Update: had the lamb open bowl, and wow the tzatziki is unbelievably good, lots of fresh dill, garlic, just perfection.

Pros: Delish chikn sandwich, delish lamb bowl, Very friendly hospitable staff

Delicious breakfast and food is all vegan - Edit
We came here for breakfast. I had a coffee which was really tasty and I had scrambled tofu and added mushrooms and my partner had the big breakfast. It was nice that they gave us a small plate with nuttelex on it so we could put as much or as little on our bread as we wanted. Both servings were a good size and I liked the flavour.

Delicious food, average coffee. - Edit
Highly recommend all food here. The toasties, tofu scramble, fritters and satay bowl are my regulars. Have been here and ordered far too many times. The batch brew coffee isn’t great and neither are the plant milks.

Relaxing, friendly, good food. - Edit
I've been coming here since it first opened, under the original owner, and I'm glad to see the menu has stayed mostly the same (except the introduction of cows milk is very questionable and uncomfortable). The return of the brekky quesadilla would be a welcome bonus too. The biggest gripe I have is their bread. With so many local options for great sourdough bread, the dull, unappealing, foamy white stuff they use is really disappointing. Get some decent, hearty, multi-grain bread and it will really lift your game - addressed to the owners. I'd also like to see more creative vegetable based dishes instead of the fake 'meat' becoming so prominent on the menu.

I had the Margherita toastie, the pesto and the vegan cheese in it is really good, my partner had the vegan egg and tempeh bacon on toast, and said it was delicious. Great place to regularly come for a perfect brekky/lunch.

Not the best - Edit
Food was okay, not the best. Ordered the satay bowl and kentucky fried plate. Flavour was lacking in both dishes. Kentucky fried chicken pieces seemed dry and bland. Didn't suit my tastebuds so wouldn't visit again.
