No vegetarian options available due to “selling out” - Edit
Queued outside from 30min after they opened, but they were apparently sold out of vegetarian options by the time we ordered. Absolute waste of time, no apology for not having any vegetarian options available.

SO tasty - Edit
Vegan omen meal with tempura - SO delicious! The only difference between my meal and my friends was that I had a sweet potato tempura piece instead of a shrimp tempura LOL so my meal did not feel like it was lacking at all. Great place!

Tasty! - Edit
Vegan option is not labelled as such in the menu but the restaurant has a sign outside that they're vegetarian / vegan friendly. I simply asked them to make the vegetarian dish vegan and they immediately understood.

Pros: High quality soba
Cons: Only one vegan option, Need to wait outside for a while

Udon and more - Edit
The waiter tells me they have more vegan options here than at the ginkakuji branch. Not as many during corona times but hopefully the vegan options will increase again as normalcy returns!

Delicious and fun - Edit
We absolutely loved the food here. 100% free from animal products, clearly stated on their menu. Putting it altogether in the broth as you eat makes for a fun experience as well. We’d love to go back!

Delicious udon - Edit
Separate vegetarian (vegan) menu (ask) with tasty options. The udon was delicious and they say on the menu how to eat which is helpful if you’re new in Japan! Quite a small restaurant right near the Gion district but on the main road, but lovely and cosy inside with friendly nice staff.

Traditional vegan noodles - Edit
I had a very tasty udon noodles and vegan tempura here. There are two set meals with optional sides to add on. It’s around 2000¥ which is a bit pricey.

Vegetarian friendly Udon - Edit
This restaurant offers an authentic take on udon noddles. You are offered a standard vegetable broth, not common in Japan, along with seasonal veg, tempura and pickles, and a large portion of udon noodles. Combined, these create an awesome meal, the restaurant even provides advice on how to combine your components for optimum taste.

Udon for when you wanna treat yo-self - Edit
A lil spendy, but so worth it! Separate ‘vegetarian’ (all vegan tho) menu, with several options. I had the udon with vegetable tempura and it was so good! Nice to be able to choose what/how much of the veggies you want in your broth! 2 meals came to 3550¥, but good value and atmosphere!

Friendly restaurant, good fresh food - Edit
We really enjoyed it here. The food is good and tasty, staff is friendly and they have a special vegan/veggie menu. So try this when you’re in the neighborhood. On my iPhone the directions didn’t match with the location, we searched a lot before returning to the main street (where I wouldn’t expect it), and there it was!

Seperate vegetarian menu, delicious food - Edit
Seperate menu which we had to request but was clearly stated. Everything on it was vegan and delicious. Great location just near the Gion district, so food was a little bit expensive, but well worth it.

Amazing vegan meals - Edit
Don’t get put off from trying veg-option restaurants when travelling. This place is a great example of how non-vegan restaurants can still do an incredible job for providing vegan meals.
Read moreThey have a vegan menu which includes set meals and sides which are all vegan. It is one of the best meals I have eaten. Fresh Japanese food is hard to come by as a vegan, as most of the restaurants cater to more American cuisine. Don’t miss this restaurant, the food is truly delicious.
There are two set meals with optional sides to add on. It’s around 2000¥ which is a bit pricey but it is worth it.
You can expect food such as:
- tempura
- udon noodles
- veg in sesame sauce
- aubergine in soy sauce
- veg broth
- a range of veg including onion, ginger, mochi, cabbage etc
The idea is that you can mix and match your food, sauce and broth. There’s a guide on each table which gives you ideas for this.
Pros: A vegan menu, Great service, Delicious food
Cons: Is a bit expensive, Isn’t fully vegan
