Good in a pinch

Chain restaurants like these can be a god send for vegans in less metropolitan areas with limited options for eating out to begin with or just for those of us who find ourselves in need of a spot that is perhaps comfortable or familiar, cuisine-wise (whether for ourselves or someone in our dining party). You will find minestrone, breadsticks, and build-your-own pasta marinara vegan as-is. You can hack a vegan salad by holding the dressing, croutons, and optional Parmesan and asking for oil & vinegar instead. In other words, you can find a perfectly fine meal here.

Very few options for vegans

Olive Garden doesn’t seem to make any effort to be vegan-friendly, however, there are a few things you can eat on their menu, and it’s a decent choice if you’re eating out with non-veg friends.
The breadsticks and minestrone soup are vegan as is, and you can order a create your own pasta with marinara.
The standard salad dressing contains cheese, so we order the salad with no dressing and ask for olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. (That’s the traditional Italian way to eat salad anyway 😉)
The “V” on their menu stands for vegetarian, not vegan.
Not a great choice for vegans, but if you happen to find yourself there, you can eat a few things.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Very few options
