Yummy and friendly

All vegetarian, with plenty of vegan options. Different items to choose from every day. The owner asks you to point to the items in the display case that you would like, and how much you would like of each item. Then you sit at one big table with everyone else eating there, and it's OK to converse, or not (up to you). I loved the baked tofu and butter beans! (Both vegan.)

Pros: Yummy! , Friendly, Reasonably priced

Cons: Small space, so you may need to squeeze in at the

Surprisingly good!

We went in for a quick bite and didn't expect much. The place is small and looks a bit messy, but what a surprise! We ordered a plate with a bit of everything vegan in the display and took a seat while we wanted for the owner to prepare and heat our plate. Everything was really good: a bunch of flavours, lots and lots of fresh vegetables and more than enough vegan options (more than half of the display). And, it was really cheap as well.

Hearty food and hearty service

The place offers a good selection of nutritious, healthy food. Simple, but flavorful and filling. The female owner is always cheerful and friendly.

Great food great vibe

The owners of this place were so kind and welcoming. They had many delicious, healthy, and fresh vegan options. You buy savory pies and desserts by the slice and the rest of the food by weight. I had a full plate for 13 euros. They heat the food up for you on the stove/oven- no microwaves! This is my favorite place for vegan food in Amsterdam! Went with a omnivore who loved it too!

Pros: Wide variety of delicious vegan mains and sides, Lovely customer service; was very welcoming, Great prices for quality food

My favorite veg restaurant in Amsterdam!

The food is delicious and inexpensive. The food is all vegetarian except for an occasional fish dish. The chocolate cake is fantastic! They only make so much food each day so go early for the best selection.

Simple but delicious home cooked vegan food!

A very lovely small cafe with a variety of home cooked vegan food. You choose how much of each dish you'd like and pay based on weight. Not everything is vegan, though! Decently priced for healthy food ♥️

Pros: Lots of healthy vegan options, Wonderful staff

Cons: Does not accept credit cards (only maestro debit)

Perfect food! And still open during the corona intelligent lockdown for take-away!!!!

Very nice place, totally adore this place and the owners. So sweet, talented people!!! It is a very small restaurant with slow food close to the Albert Cuyp Market.
The food is already (home) made. You can choose by weight how much you want of a dish. The food is incredible!!!
You can have the food in the restaurant (there is one shared table) or you can choose to take away. They have a lot of vegan options. It is so tasty! Price is fair for all the fresh bio ingredients.

Heerlijk

Lekker eten, weer eens wat andere gerechten, vriendelijke mensen en zooo veel beter dan alle noodle en wok restaurants in de buurt, terwijl het niet duurder is 😊

Wonderful local vegetarian / vegan spot

Amazing veg food made freshly daily. The owner will talk through each dish and you can select a few. The most popular options are too get a little bit of a few different items (e.g., marinated tofu, sautéed mushrooms) and then the price is based on the weight. They also have a great selection of baked tarts made daily, including vegan ones, that are priced separately. I loved the restaurant and vibes so much that I ate there two days in a row.

Restaurant only accepts cash and debit cards (with pin code) - no credit cards.

Pros: Weight based pricing allows you to try multiple it

Perfect cozy little restaurants!

We were looking for a vegetarian place after few days with too much meat... so we decided to try olive and cookie, and were super happy that we did! The seats are social (by which I mean that you have to share the table with other guests) which we didn’t mind at all, the owner was cooking some delicious pies when we came in and immediately welcomed us. He was super friendly and you could really see how he loved his job. Already 14 years going strong! The food was super delicious and beautiful to look at as well! Some were vegan and some vegetarian but all to die for, even the desserts very delicious!
I will be back next time I come to Holland! Thank you!

Pros: Food, Friendliness, Cozyness

A must in Amsterdam!

This place is an absolute gem! The chef is a sweet woman who is obviously passionate about the food she makes. The food is so full of flavour and not one item I didn't love. Wish she was in sydney!

Pros: Lots of vegan options.

Cons: None!!

Amazing food

We went for some takeaway food to Olive and Cookie and it was delicious! The lady took the time to explain each dish and told us it would take a little while to heat up some of the dishes as she heats everything up either in the oven or in pans. As we went fairly early, there was a lot of choice. There were dishes such as the polenta tart with sundried tomatoes and peppers, pancakes filled with truffle, ricotta and walnut and a lasagne made with bread (really lovely, my description is rubbish!). We also had the chocolate cheesecake which was an indulgent treat. The food and the service were great. It can take a little time to get your food, but it's definitely worth waiting for. It's a small place and there's only one large table in there though. When we went, all the dishes were vegetarian.

Delicious food, simple cafe

This is a very unassuming little place tucked away on a side street. There is just one large table inside but most people were getting take away when I was there. The quality of the food is incredible - far better than you might expect from the simple setting. There is a strong temptation to try a bit of everything and you can pick exactly how much you want of each dish you want when you place your order. As another review says, the tarts are the real speciality (I tried the polenta and sundried tomato one). The prices are by weight for most things and very reasonable. Everything was vegetarian when I went.

Pros: Stunning food, Pay by weight, Choose your own combo

Cons: Limited seating, Food can run out if busy

Could be bumped up from "veg friendly"

Really this place is vegetarian with a fish dish every so often. Calling it "veg friendly" is misleading. Amsterdam has a horrible trend in "casual eating" where all the food is put out and what you order is then microwaved in front of you (often in plastic containers) ie foodware, Uliveto, Today's Italian, and many more. At least Olive and Cookie reheats the food stovetop or in the oven. The food itself is high quality. The husband and wife team (only one works at a time while the other is with their child) are very sweet and part of the neighborhood (have seen the husband out teaching their kid how to ride a bike). A little on the expensive side (not super expensive but for me I can't eat there too often) but mainly because you want to try multiple things. Quite possibly the best appeltaart in Amsterdam, despite every cafe making an attempt at appeltaart, it usually lacks everything. The roasted root vegetables are great, but easily duplicated at home. The savory tarts are the best part (pear and goat cheese; polenta and sundried tomato, etc) and worth trying.

Inspiring and delicious food

At Olive and Cookie, the food is simply fantastic ! Freshly cooked, tasty dishes of mediterranean, asian or european inspiration that can vary from day to day. The kind of recipes you would love to try at home. The chef obviously loves his work. He takes the time to explain each dish if asked. The restaurant itself is very small. Simple but warm decoration.Don't come there if you are in a hurry. A sign mentions "take it slow" and the chef means it. My advice : try a big plate with a little of everything. You won't regret your visit at Olive and Cookie, it's a must !

Pros: excellent food, cheap, friendly atmosphere
