Located outside Lunenburg sits a cute little German restaurant that you would never suspect to be so vegan-friendly.
Read moreInside is bright, cozy space filled with beautiful artwork of Germany, gorgeous beer steins line a shelf at the ceiling and the artistic chalk board walls add so much character to the atmosphere.
Outside they have a nice sized patio as well where you can look out to a nice yard area.
The menu has a few vegan options that are marked clearly on the menu.
I decided on the vegan schnitzel, which is a first (I haven’t had nonvegan schnitzel either).
Our servers were just wonderful! Had a nice chat with them and appreciated that one was also plant based herself.
The food came out quickly, the presentation was lovely and it was truly unique and tasty.
They also have vegan soft serve so I got that for dessert and it was amazing!
Definitely highly recommend!

First visited here 14 years ago before I switched to the vegan diet. On this return visit we were delighted to see vegan offerings from the new-in-2020 owners.
Read moreHaven’t tried many meat substitutes, so was pleasantly surprised with the novel (to me) notion of a “vegan bratwurst.” Taste, aroma & texture quite successful. Brussels sprouts nicely spiced and not over cooked. Mashed potatoes vegan and delicious. “Vegan schnitzel” delicious and surprisingly like the original.
Don’t miss the vegan vanilla ice cream with blueberries, almonds & chocolate sauce = superb.

What a great meal! Having lived in the area for quite some time, I’d driven past this restaurant so many times but never visited because of a lack of veg options. This new ownership and its vegan friendly menu is a delight! The currywurst sausage and schnitzel were both great. Lots of German beer available and the sweetest server! I’ll be back!

Lots of veg options! - Edit
Finally made it here— it’s been busy the previous times I’ve tried (admittedly, on long weekends as a day trip out of Halifax). I had heard good things about their vegan schnitzel, but their vegan sausage was even better! They had more veg options than it looked like from their website. The vegan schnitzel used some plant-based beef-style meat. The veg sausage had some curry seasoning and we had it with their spaetzel (vegetarian- egg) and lentils, which was a really nice dish. They also had a vegan currywurst and a couple of vegetarian spaetzel main dishes. They have a vegan rice pudding on the menu, but we were too full for dessert. I’ll be back to try it and the currywurst!
