Deserves five stars

Tasty Okonomiyaki, so many options to choose from, customise with which vegetables you like. Great and friendly service and very cheap drinks!

Pros: Options, Price, Service

Delicious

Some of the best food I’ve had on my trip to Japan! The okonomiyaki is freshly made and it tastes amazing. The downside is the potential long line (I went before it even opened, and there were already 2 people in front of me), but worth the wait.

Pros: Delicious food, Amazing space

Cons: Usually crowded

Amazing Option in Osaka 🙌🏼

There is a separate vege menu and the vibes are soooo cool! There will be a line but well worth the wait! We loved it during our stay in Osaka - super unique!

A bizarre delight with ridiculously long queues

Delicious food. I wanted to try okonomiyaki, a local speciality, and it did not disappoint.

Weirdly they trade heavily on vegan food, but do offer non-vegan options. The cooking area is right next to the queue, and open, so you might be exposed to grilling meat smells

Pros: Very tasty, filling food, Great atmosphere, once you get in, Cheap drinks, make your own

Cons: Had to queue for a long time to get in, Had to wait quite a while for food as well

Popular and Very Oishi!

Very tasty, huge portion size, we ordered 2 medium and it was more than enough for 3 of us. We had Okonomiyaki with potato, spinach, green onion, mixed beans, carrot, and cheese (vegan option available). Long wait (about an hour). The sign said the busiest times between 6:10pm and 9:40pm, we arrived about 8:20pm hence the wait.

Great atmosphere & food - Long queues

Great food, incredible atmosphere.

Often a long queue, at 1800 during cherry blossom week in April we waited 45 minutes for entry - This is normal, but it’s worth the wait.

If you want a quick fix meal this may not be the best choice, if you want a great vegan food experience in Osaka - This is it.

Drinks are DIY, Make it yourself for 200 Yen - So go nuts and make yourself the wackiest cocktail you can.

Recommend mixing coke with grape syrup & vodka - It sounds odd.. but trust the anonymous reviewer.

P.S - The portions are huge (huge) don’t do what I did and order a large Oko despite never finishing it every time I come here - You could share a large oko between 2 people and still not finish it.

Pros: Great atmosphere & experience , Huge portions, Make your own cocktail/mocktails & drinks

Cons: Long queues , Not entirely vegan/vego, meat options served

Worth the wait

We waited for more than an hour to get inside. Shiho, the lady who prepars the food, is working on her own, so it takes a while to receive your food and to be seated, but it was crafted with love and care. She also offered us free drinks since we waited for so long. The okonomoaki was very tasty and the place is incredibly cool with great music and good vibes. Definitely recommended for Okonomoaki lovers!
*Also the lovely guy outside the restaurant who directs the traffic was very funny

Not worth your time

After hearing so many great things about OKO, I was left extremely disappointed by my experience.

Waiting in line for 30mins was not worth it, as the food was bland and the gyoza were extremely oily. There was also a massive piece of beef in my vegan okonomiyaki - which put me off the meal completely.

One lady runs the entire restaurant so I understand mistakes happen, but I honestly thought there would be better care with the cross contamination considering the building has a massive ‘vegan’ painted on it.

Pros: Cheap alcohol

Cons: Obvious cross contamination , All plates and cutlery is disposable , Long wait time

Absolutely perfect

We got to the restaurant about 15 minutes after they opened and we still had to wait in line about 40 minutes to place our order. This is because it is one person cooking and serving, but it was worth the wait. There is very little seating but we got lucky. They have vegan cheese and Kewpie. One medium size portion was the perfect amount of two people. So so delicious, would give it a 5 if I could

How wonderful, impressive, tasty

This is a must visit for any vegan / vegetarian in Osaka. The food tastes amazing. When I walked in, I had no idea this was a one-woman operation. It's an absolutely delightful experience watching the absurdity of how much Shisho is able to accomplish in her space while sharing such a beautiful presence. Ridiculous I can't give her 5 stars because of Happy Cow!

Fun food experience

Vibrant and really nice chilled atmosphere, sort of self serving which made it even more fun. Food is great but be aware that the okonomyaki is VERY filling and maybe consider a smaller portion. Take away of leftovers available. A 4 floors building is run exclusively by one person and all my appreciation goes to Shiho for her hard working and amazing personality! Vegan menu is separate and some sauces are not vegan but it s all written and labelled to avoid mistakes.

Pros: Nice atmosphere , Tasty food, Fun beer pouring machine

FABULOUS MWAH

Couldn’t rate this place more, honestly one of the best restaurants (vibe wise) I’ve ever been to. Sooo friendly and VERY cheap drinks - 200 yen per drink which you make yourself from an endless choice of booze and mixers. Owner runs this place solo and is so lovely. Pens to write on the walls / bathrooms to leave a small message where you are from :)) very cool

Food wise- gyoza was mean, yakisoba was scrumptious. Perfect food to begin a night full of sinking drinks. Also probably perfect dusty food. Highly recommend !!!

Pros: FOOD, VIBES, DRINKS

Disappointing

I was expecting to really like this place after my experience at the other Oko (Takoyaki), which was incredible. I hate to leave a bad review but I just felt really let down. The okonomiyaki wasn’t very hot, and lacked any real flavour. I also ended up not finishing my meal after seeing a random sign on the wall saying the ‘dry sauce’ I just poured all over my okonomiyaki isn’t vegan. … it would be a good idea to note this on the bottle considering this place is meant to be so vegan friendly. Please keep in mind not everything here is vegan either. They have a whole non vegan menu with meat which is fine but it does kinda give the impression that it’s a vegan/vegetarian restaurant from the outside. I also tried the dumplings which were average too.

Pros: Fun atmosphere , Friendly service, Very cheap drinks!

Cons: Food wasn’t very tasty, Dirty kitchen , Deceptive of being completely veg

uncurtaining

Will blow your mind

I would give this restaurant a 5 star if allowed. Holy wow it was amazing. This restaurant is a whole experience, from the outside you're assaulted with a colourful building, to the inside of warm, passionate messages. The meal came out pretty fast I thought for a one women show by Shibo. The food was super delicious and healthy. Could not fault it and completely forgot to take a photo so here's our half eaten one 😂

Fun

I had, of course, the okonomiyaki. I never tried the traditional one prior being vegan, thus, no comparison. It was tasty and you get to choose 5 kinds of veggies, but the serving of the medium size (which is the smallest serving option) was too much for one person. I was really full half way hahaha! Good thing there's a take away box and a plastic bag to bring leftovers. The place is very bright, it's fun. I also like the self-service style. #Veganuary

Tasty but different

Not like traditional okonomiyaki but still had a great flavour. There were lots of veggies and the portions were large too which was great. The environment is quirky and a bit chaotic. But the lady was lovely.

Mixed feeling with this wonderful place.

My first night in Osaka, looking for vegetarian japanese food. Was a bit hesitant to get into the shop as there are many signs and bored and I could not see any customers from the front door. thanks to two more brave foreigners who walked into the restaurant first.

I took a hike to order and figured out how to order the drinks. But this tiny restaurant does worth a try if you are those looking for fun and creativity.

Don’t expect to have something similar to the traditional okonomoyaki, it is updated and cute version. #Veganuary

Pros: Vegan Okonomiyaki, Shiho, the cute lady in the kitchen

Cons: A bit confused while trying to figure out

AMAZING

My travel back home to Chicago was delayed due to a typhoon in Osaka and I accidentally stumbled upon this place which seemed like it was something out of a dream!!! The owner is absolutely lovely and somehow manages to run this place herself. She cooked my food to perfection and I ordered the large so I could have leftovers as I wanted to make the experience last as long as possible. I actually ended up bringing some home in my checked baggage and was delighted to eat the rest when I got home. I got to select exactly how I wanted the okonomiyaki to be made and added vegan sauces which were clearly labeled as she does have vegetarian options as well. I was disappointed they were out of gyoza but it shows how wonderful the food is and that it sells out! There was a line to get in, but she keeps everything very organized and even has peanuts to eat while you wait. The artwork all over the walls is super cool and there are sticky notes everywhere giving cute little messages and instructions. The food was incredible and the vibe here was outstanding. I love this place so much!!

Pros: Mostly vegan, Creative, fun vibe, Owner is fantastic

Cons: A wait to get in, Some food sells out fast so go early

Vegan/vegetarian menu!

She was the only one who ran the restaurant and cooked as well! Such a nice human!

She accommodated to no onion and no garlic in the food I wanted.

The food was good, I got the pancake, fries and Edamame! It was filling for sure.

The wait was really long but worth it. There was a lot of room to side inside and it was fun environment!!

Osaka specialty takoyaki

This is a restaurant for vegans.
Rather than takoyaki, the ingredients are more like radio-yaki, with mainly vegetables.
*Octopus not included

This restaurant is highly recommended for people who cannot eat wheat flour due to dietary restrictions.

Also, there are a lot of tourists, so if you want to have international exchange, please come and eat!

The Tardis of Vegan Okinomiyaki.

Lot of choice on how to build your okonomiyaki, dumplings, and plenty of side dishes. Shiho is very kind and energetic. Do have to come at the right time or it will be super busy. I called it the tardis because it seems really small but then it turns out they have multiple floors. You can decide for yourself where to sit and drinks work on the honor system of dropping money in a bucket. The place has a chaotic and thrown together look that fits well with the surroundings. Not the most sophisticated food, but well made and good portions. Shiho doesn't lie when she says the okra noodles are filling. I only had breakfast the entire day so ordered a big portion but struggled to finish it

Pros: The owner is great, Good filling food, Food gets there quick

Cons: Have to get own food, can be many stairs

Amazing owner

As far as I can tell, the owner is the only worker there and I can imagine it gets stressful. I had maybe a 10 minute wait before I could order. Everything was labeled well. I got okonomiyaki as well as a side of curry dumplings. Both were really good. Worth the wait.

Love

Delicious meal. Great atmosphere. Actually left full. We arrived just before 6 thinking being early we should be okay but we had about 40 minutes wait to get inside so keep that in mind if you have plans.

They serve some meat so it is good if in mixed company. But something to be aware of if you aren’t okay with that.
