Unmissable!!! - Edit
After being disheartened by nearby Ichiran that advertises very largely “pork free ramen” but then being told at the entrance that soup stock has chicken 🤡, finding this gem was the best! It’s a multi level restaurant ran by a one woman team??? How she manages to keep such a beautiful and unique atmosphere is beyond me. Had the vegan gyoza and they were amazing! And drinks are all 200 and you make them yourself? Will return!

WHAT IS THIS PLACE? OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Shiho runs this place alone and it is mind blowing! I tried the vegan okonomiyaki and I’m grateful that I could taste such an amazing traditional dish.

Happy Cow is bullshit - OKO is the best - Edit
I finally managed to eat fully vegan yesterday! After two weeks in Japan, mostly eating vegetarian because vegan options are hard to find, this place was a dream.
Read moreIt’s honestly one of the best spots I’ve been to. The fact that the app doesn’t allow a 5-star rating because it’s not “fully vegan” shows how disconnected the rules are from reality. So [censored] YOU, happy cow with your bureaucratic rules.
Finding proper vegan food here is tough, and this place delivers. It absolutely deserves 5 stars.
Pros: The food, Drinking , Honorary system
Cons: Happy cow doesn’t allow it to be 5 stars

Be prepared for the best cray cray - Edit
You will wait. But there are two buckets of free snacks and the cheapest, make your own, drinks you will get in Japan. All the writing/notes in the upstairs will keep you entertained as you wait. The menu is clearly divide between vegetarian/vegan and with meat. It's an experience like nothing else, vibes to 100. The food is also fantastic. Vegetarian yakisoba was best on the trip. I would give it 5 stars but not an option unless it's fully vegan/vegetarian. This place is also gluten free friendly and maintains seperate grills. It deserves 5 stars.

Great spot for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. This is a hidden gem, great spot near Namba station, Osaka. Restaurant is very busy so would recommend getting there early but definitely well worth the wait!

Amazing Vegetarian/Vegan Options - Edit
Please note that the owner does all of the cooking, cleaning, and order taking all by herself!! She has both meat, vegetarian, and vegan options! Her stilt of Okonimiyaki is a bit different from the traditional version. Instead of miking together all of the ingredients, she layers them on top of one another. Regardless, I had a vegetarian okonomiyaki and it was amazing! Note that the large is LARGE!

Highlight of Osaka Trip - Edit
As previous reviews mentioned, it's a really unique experience to eat at OKO. It's just unbelievable, how fast the owner is working, to prepare everything by herself. We were probably lucky to have a waiting time from about 10 minutes, as it can get crowded. It's very tasty and good Okonomiyaki though, we had the vegan and vegetarian option and everything was correctly prepared with the veggies we picked. It's large also, the M version will totally suffice if you're very hungry.

Highlight in Osaka - Edit

Shiho is lovely, speaks Japanese and English. Everything is clearly labeled and she cares a lot about avoiding cross contamination. Even the M size okonomiyaki fills you up almost too well, L is definitely for sharing and everything's worth the price! Definitely recommend Shiho's awesome restaurant!

Wer die traditionelle japanische Küche in einem abgedrehten Ambiente sucht, der wird es hier finden. Das Essen war super lecker! Shiho is incredible!! - Edit
Would put 5 stars but it won’t let me because it’s not fully vegetarian/vegan. Has a totally separate vegan & vegetarian menu with many options! Run by one person, Shiho, who is incredible and sweet😄drinks are only 200 ¥, peanuts are free, and food is very reasonably priced. Amazing atmosphere and decorations!

So delicious!! - Edit
Delicious food, an amazingly decorated place, good vibes, fun, a happy experience!! Definitely a must! They have the traditional pancake with vegetables here that I wanted to try. The place is super inclusive for vegans and glutenfree people as well (even cross contamination proof and she checks double dietary restrictions very clearly: "egg okay?" When my non vegan friends ordered). Eating in one of the many interesting rooms, we had a fun time, enjoying the food, the atmosphere and all the decorations in the place. The owner was kind, energetic and a very good cook! Making your own drinks is also very fun. The next day I also went to the other OKO place where they have 2 other traditional dishes, that place is 100% vegan. I recommend going to both places to taste all three local dishes!

Best okonomiyaki in Osaka 💚 - Edit
The owner was lovely and she made the best okonomiyaki ever 💚 Portions are huge and there's a cheap self-service bar. You can order in English too. The atmosphere is unique. The ordering system was a bit confusing at first and there was already some line a while after it opened but don't let it get you down. This place is worth the wait and the food was ready quite fast. There's also some meat options that made it easier to lure my omnivore friends inside.
