Great view and food - Edit
Overall the food here is quite good, though I wasn’t a fan of the set menu only having 1 option per day.

Best vegan food in region - Edit
I’ve eaten here a number of times on multiple stays at Sunset Lodge and it’s been the best vegan food of my trips around Central America.
Read moreDinner is three courses of imaginative twists on local dishes, using locally sourced produced. The dishes are tasty & beautifully presented and I love that I can eat authentic Guatemalan cuisine. The atmosphere is mega friendly and views to die for over the volcanic lake. And it’s great value!
It doesn’t get much better!

Just what Lake Atitlan needed! - Edit
I discovered this beautiful vegan restaurant whilst staying at Sunset Lodge. It overlooks the lake, has a lovely atmosphere and a dinner menu that changes daily, so local chef Andres offers a different 3 course meal every evening. A perfect place for vegans and non vegans looking to try something new!

3-course vegan meal with incredible views - Edit
We stumbled across this restaurant accidentally because, unbeknown to us, it was part of our Airbnb! It wasn't really mentioned in the Airbnb and to our surprise, dinner is always vegan and changes daily!
Read moreThe meal was flavorful with a pumpkin soup starter, an main of mash potato, salad, and eggplant 'steak' and a raw avocado cheesecake. It was missing the protein though and I didn't feel quite satiated afterwards. The meal was on the higher end at 125Q.
The breakfast menu is set with 4-5 dishes to choose from for 65Q including fruit and coffee. The chickpea omelette and cauliflower scramble are very filling and delicious!
Unfortunately for those who can't go a day without some poor chicken's excretions, eggs were also available for breakfast (some alcohol may also be non vegan), otherwise the place is almost 100% vegan.

Best Restaurant on Lake Atitlan - Edit
Atitlan Sunset Lodge is the best restaurant in the Lake Atitlan (perhaps in all of Guatemala).
Read moreIf you are not vegan, this restaurant may turn you into one. You have been warned. This restaurant is that good.
The owner is Armand, and he is French, and we all know the French have very high culinary standards. His Mayan chef Andres trained at a culinary school, and also trained with Armand. What chef Andres can do with vegetables is nothing short of astounding. And the raw desserts are to die for. Seriously.
And to top it off, the restaurant itself is so pretty. It over looks the gorgeous lake, designed in a natural, minimalist style. I recommend that you come early and have a glass of wine or beer and watch the sunset. The view from the restaurant is spectacular!
Atitlan Sunset Lodge is the type of undiscovered gem that would have appealed to Anthony Bourdaine.
If you are in the Lake Atitlan region, this is the place to dine, whether you are vegan or not.
