Vegetarian food stall set up in front of Go Organic Shop. Offers various types of vegetarian food including nasi ulam, lei cha, mushroom burger, char siew rice, chicken rice, green curry spaghetti, perut ikan, Nyonya acar, tempeh and chick pea and burgers. All meals are egg-free. Also sells drinks such as bottled drinks like soy milk, luo han guo, hawthorn and lemongrass. Black soy beancurd, agar-agar and assorted desserts are available too. Unsure if the drinks contain honey or milk. Vegans please inquire as to which are suitable. Open Fri-Sun 8:00am-12:00pm. Closed Mon. - Thu. Also open on 1st & 15th day of the lunar calendar.

Excellent local food!

Before our Penang trip, I Googled to see if I could get vegan-friendly Nasi Ulam as it’s usually made with belacan (fermented shrimp paste) which isn’t vegan. I always spend hours researching what and where to eat as eating well is an integral part of our travels.

I found a posting online about this vegetarian Nasi Ulam in Pulau Tikus by OHS Evergreen Food. Upon reading the online article, I realised that I have walked past this place many times during my Penang trips!

But I’ve never seen the stall…

And now I know why…

Ms Chan only sells the vegetarian food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as the 1st & 15th day of the lunar calendar. And she’s only there between 8am-12pm.

I asked for her menu and placed an order for:
1 Nasi Ulam
1 Lei Cha Rice
1 Veg Perut Ikan

Veg Chicken Rice

Everything was delicious. The next time I’m in Penang I have to make sure I’m there on Fri-Sunday to buy the food again.

I did check to ensure there’s no eggs and dairy in the food and she said there’s none for the dishes I chose.

She sets up her stall In front of Go Organic shop.

Pros: Very delicious, Good menu

Cons: Only available on Fri-Sun and 1st & 15th lunar mon
