Buffet
Large vegetarian restaurant 150 yards behind the bus station. Food is all pre-cooked and laid out behind a glass window for you to point and choose. Offers a selection of vegetarian meats such as red pork, duck, three-flavored fish, drumsticks, fried pig intestines, and others. Makes a few made to order items like "guay dtee-ow," which is especially delicious in the cool season after a long day's trekking. Open Mon-Sun 7:00am-7:00pm.

Good - Edit
Das Essen ist ganz gut aber jetzt auch nicht ultra besonders. Für den Preis echt fair. Man hat aber leider keine Ahnung was man überhaupt isst sondern zeigt einfach mit dem Finger auf das was man haben will.

Looked good, but had trouble understanding tastes cause didn't know the dishes in the buffet - Edit
Everything is behind a glass counter, you point at what you want and the friendly women that work there put everything on a plate for you. A plus is they have brown rice as a stable - a welcome option for those of us sick of being restricted to bland white rice in much of SE Asia.
Read moreI was also excited to have a plant-based protein other than tofu, which is often the only option in many SE Asian restaurants. However since the various vegan meat dishes came in sauces, and since I didn't know the sauces, I didn't really have an idea what I was getting when I was pointing to some of the dishes. What I ended up with was OK, but not amazing. If I had a better idea of what I was getting, it might have been better. But the language barrier with the restaurant workers speaking limited English made that difficult.
They also sell dried vegan meats to go, which looked go and I bought too small bags. If you are staying somewhere with a kitchen, they also have a freezer with various vegan meats for sale, and a wall full of soy and other sauces.

Inexpensive, large servings, rotating menu - Edit
Vegan buffet where you can get rice or noodles with up to 4 items (75B for 4 items, 65 for 3, 55 for 2). Most items contains tofu and lots of vegetables. We went two days in a row and most of the items were different. They were tastier the second day so if you’re not fully convinced on your first day (as we were), it might be worth trying again another day. The chili condiment is very good. Food is cold but you can ask to have it microwaved.
Read moreYou can get noodles instead of the usual rice offered in buffet, this is a welcoming change, and the serving is bigger.
We take two plates each and the second plate was always bigger. Also if you take an item for which the tray is almost empty she will empty it for you and you end up with a bigger portion than usual.
To put it in a nutshell, this is a good place to eat lots of proteins and vegetables for a very decent price. The owner is nice and welcoming.
Pros: Lots of tofu and vegetables , Rotating menu, Noodles and rice available
Cons: Sometime a bit blank without seasoning

Okay - Edit
The buffet was good, it did have some nice flavours, but it wasn't that special. I also tried a Kao Soi but I wasn't impressed by it. It had some type of very thin and soup-like mock meat which made the texture off. The good thing was that it was open in the evening.

We had dinner there every day during our stay in Chiang Rai because we liked it so much the first day and we saw it as an ideal place to eat. It is a buffet with many options, very tasty and at a very good price, although we didn't eat anything that was spicy.

Verdadero oasis - Edit
Pedimos dos platos típicos y un plato para compartir con un revuelto de cosas que habíamos visto antes por los puestos callejeros. Todo muy rico. Local muy limpio, fueron super amables. Cerca del mercado nocturno y la estación de bus 1.

Average quality and fairly expensive - Edit
Unfortunately, I can't really agree with all the positive reviews. I found the food quality to be rather average and it was too expensive for what it was. I had the tvp with chili and basil freshly made, and it was so oily I couldn't finish it. My husband had a soup, which he liked. In addition, we tried a few things from the buffet, which were alright but nothing special, small portions.

Great location - Edit
Location near the bus station, which is super nice. Also a good as an alternative to the night market there, which has (apart from some ice cream) no vegan food that I can remember. Food at this place is decent, not great.

An oasis in the dinnertime desert - Edit
We got back late from the White Temple and had minutes to get to our bus, so I dashed in here to eat something before the three-hour journey. I think it’s the only vegan restaurant open in the evening. I chose a few things from the buffet, barely asking what they were and going mainly on appearance. What I ended up was a fairly typical experience of a jay restaurant for me: a mixture of good, average and too-spicy dishes, all at a super-low price that makes it all worth it. Be sure to take your dishes to the sink before leaving.

Conveniently located local eatery - Edit
I went there after I arrived at the bus station, which is only a few minutes walk away.
Read moreThis is a cheap, local style Thai vegan restaurant. Most (maybe all? Usually these kinds of restaurants would offer some fresh soup if you know how to order it) of the food is pre cooked and can be chosen by pointing. Very friendly ladies working there. Mix of vegetable dishes and tofu / fake meat available.
They also sell pantries stuff.
Pros: friendly, tasty food, cheap

Great buffet-style food! - Edit
Food is prepared and you pick what you want. Staff can speak English well to describe the dishes. Curry was amazing! Lots of tofu and fake meats! Food was delicious and ridiculously cheap. I went up for a 2nd plate. 3 plates of food plus some extra fake meats (sausage) cost $8.

The Oasis is amazingly cheap, offers a great choice of fake meats and fish, is friendly and popular. Yet, some fake meat and dishes were not evidently fresh and the choice of drinks pretty ultra processed. For a budget meal is just perfect

Oasis is a large buffet with a vegetarian store. An impressive selection of options. I arrived late so maybe the food wasn’t as fresh. Nonetheless, it was still tasty. Lots of fake meats.
