So many comfort food options! - Edit
All-vegan soul food plus so much more. Their vegan chicken drumsticks are the closest thing to chicken I’ve eaten since giving up meat. Their ribs are great, and so is their cornbread. Can’t wait to go back!

Mouthwatering - Edit
When I tell you that their food made my tastebuds happy, I’m not lying. I was looking like Homer Simpson 🤤 all jokes aside, their food was so yummy! I really can’t wait to go back and support this business. They have a quite large menu that I feel caters to most.

Must stop! But pricey - Edit
No places to park. They charge a convenience fee and charged more for the tip than what we originally put down. The food is great though especially the Mac n cheese and fish filets.

Fast and easy ordering to make your mouth water. I got the vegan tenders with Mac and cheese and garlic collards. Splendid. Ordered online and walked there to pick up. Plenty of space inside as well. A must if your dining vegan in DC.

NuVegan has my heart - Edit
Originally from TN, good vegan southern food is such a luxury. I absolutely love NuVegan. Every dinner item I have ever had has been amazing. It is usually a headache to go out to eat with my family as a vegan, but NuVegan is always a great choice when they are in town. If my father who was raised on a chicken farm likes food from NuVegan, anyone would.
Read moreMy one and only complaint would be the biscuits for the weekend brunch. They are a little dry and have no where near enough butter. Might as well be a piece of bread. Other than that, the food is to die for!
Be warned that you will have to wait if you order off the menu and don’t choose items that are the specials for the day and pre-made! Worth the wait when you can, but better to grab something already made when you are in a rush.
Pros: MAC AND CHEESE, Tasty dinner
Cons: Eh brunch options

Soul food - Edit
Everything was so good omg. Some things were a bit overpriced in my opinion. However the food was amazing. It's a cafeteria like setting where you go up to order at one place then pay and seat yourself. They have everything from vegan fried chicken and mac n cheese to Asian inspired tofu and noodles dishes.

I can't believe it's vegan! - Edit
NuVegan has been on my list for a while. I finally had my chance and plan to go back. I ordered the BBQ tofu with brown rice entree, "tuna" macaroni salad and "chicken" salad sides. Of course I HAD to try their red velvet cake. The portion sizes are HUGE! The BBQ tofu is reminiscent of beef tips without the cruelty. The sauce was spot on. My favorite was the "chicken" salad. I would buy that on its own and put on raisin bread to make THE most delicious sandwiches. The single layer red velvet cake was dense and moist. I'm more a thick layer of cream cheese icing fan on my RVC but it wasn't a bland icing at all. It provided a nice touch of sweetness with every bite. I can't wait to try their lasagna! Great value, huge portions, black, and vegan. Yes please!

Delicious and comforting! - Edit
Absolutely amazing southern comfort soul food. They have all the classics: fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens, country fried steak, and much more. I had the ribs entree with rice, sweet potato, and the mac and cheese. My partner got the fried chicken, collard greens, and of course the mac and cheese. Very friendly staff. Large portion sizes for the sides and average/good portion sizes for the entrees. I absolutely will be back! Only open for take away during the pandemic.

I used to make the hour commute to get there from Arlington as many times as I could. This place is the bomb. My only regret is that I couldn't try the whole menu.

So Satisfied - Edit
I took myself out for Valentine’s Day dinner here, with the plan to only get the recommended Lasagna (worth every bite). I ended up leaving with three extra sides and a fresh juice! The samples I tried had me yearning for more... Plenty of food & beverages to choose from with options to cater to whatever amount of food you’d like. The people working were all incredibly helpful and seemed to be happy to be there. I had a really enjoyable experience, and I’m currently entranced by this lovely spread of flavors!

Wow! An abundance of options! - Edit
I had the bbq tofu as my main, and the Mac and cheese, and the sweet kale salad as sides. I also got red velvet cake to go!
Read moreThe bbq tofu was really filling, and a large portion. I had enough to last me two meals. I was too full to eat the cake there so I decided to take it home for later.
They do smoothies, have cookies and cake. They are a cafeteria style place. Not the fastest service if you order something they have to make on order. My friend had to wait for 10/15 minutes for a cheese quesadilla.
They seem to use a cashew base for the Mac and cheese. It’s not the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had out, but it was still tasty.
Pros: Well priced , Big portions for mains , Filling

Pricey but worth it - Edit
For me it's a bit on the pricey side with lunch offerings north of $10 but as one of the precious few vegan spots in DC they stay packed for business.

Nu Vegan on Georgia Ave no longer serves their salads in the large covered containers but small carry out bowls. Half the food at all the cost. Bad deal.

Can’t believe how delicious this food is - Edit
WOW, just wow. Vegan food gets better and better and this place proves that. The fried chikin’ is unbelievably like the real thing, and the buffalo hot sauce is great. We also ordered, sweet potatoes, collards, mac n cheeze, potato salad and bbq tofu then got cake afterwards! Can’t forget kombucha as well because we ate until we were stuffed and could used some probiotics to help with digestion. I don’t remember the last time I ate that much food. It tasted so good I forgot I was getting so full lol!! Thanksgiving came early forsure! Sure the prep area was a bit dirty but not worth marking down rating for, my experience was great! Thank you so much

Nuvegan was a bad experience in numerous ways. I don't want any fellow vegans to be treated this way.
Read moreWe arrived 45 minutes before closing, but it took almost half an hour to get our food from what is supposed to be a cafeteria. Except for two women, the people working there would not make eye contact and actually avoided responding to us. We were there, excited to support a vegan place. It could have been the staff there at the time, but I've never been intentionally ignored at a place I was paying a lot of money to purchase goods from. Our ticket was wrong, so we voluntarily added two entrees to it and paid more. We tipped heavily upon initially ordering (it's cafeteria style, so you pay upfront), but after sitting so long, not being able to get water from their empty dispenser, being ignored, and receiving a wrong entree, we wanted to take it back. We walked in the place happy and left very frustrated. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I think it would be better for this business to fold. You will regret going.
Pros: One of our five entrees was good, The green color of one wall was nice , There are other restaurants to go to
Cons: Service was sloppy and inaccurate, Service was, honestly, rude and selfish, Place is dirty- I'd give one star if site allowed
