slow food - Edit

I went for the brunch with my carnivorous mother and little sister. We spent a LONG time waiting for the food. Everyone was really tired of waiting. There wasn't even a big crowd, just a few people. I really don't know why it would take so long.
I got French toast with side of sausage and cinnamon apples. I liked the sides, but I thought the French toast was pretty dry. My family liked the French toast though. My mom got the breakfast burrito with a side of tofu scramble. It was really good! There are many options to choose from which is great. But overall, I would not come back because the service was so slow. Maybe the location in Dc is better.

Pros: good food, lots of choices, good price

Cons: very very slow

Amazing. - Edit

Probably the best vegan restaurant I’ve been to so far in my first 2 months of being vegan. Huge portions, friendly staff, so flavorful. Too bad I’m only visiting.... I’m definitely getting some sides to go for the work week.

Pleasantly surprised! - Edit

I lived in CP on and off for years as I was a student and then a graduate of UMD. When this cafeteria vegan restaurant opened, I was skeptical. In college towns, these often seem like gimmicks and don't always have the best food. My parents are SOS-free vegans and will not eat here because of the oil and salt, but I've gone with veggie friends and have to say, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find nearly all the food more than palatable!

The first time I went here, we all got different things and shared, and I ate the leftovers for days afterwards.

The only issues I had were the dishes were sometimes over-salted and often quite oily. However, the majority of the dishes are flavorful without being overpowering and made from healthy ingredients. It isn't terribly expensive, although a little pricey on a college student's budget, but the amount of food you end up with for the price is a lot!

Pros: Choice

Cons: Salty, Oily

Nice spot - Edit

Funny Location...right next to a burger joint. So you can take your carnivore friends if they refuse to eat with you.
I had the black bean burger and my 8-year-old daughter said she might have to be a vegan too because it is was so good.
Also had cooked cabbage and garlic kale salad. Daughter had Asian noodle salad.
They do give 3 samples, which is nice because she got to try a different noodle salad and didn't care for it.
We also got a gigantic chocolate chip cookie to go. Yum!!

2-24-17. Had to come back to try something else. Crab cake, Mac & cheese, and Peanut butter shake....OMG!! Going to call a girlfriend now and plan a lunch date for next week so I can get it all again! (Also had Collard greens, but too salty for my taste.)

Pros: nice and roomy restaurant, free samples (3), friendly staff

Cons: parking can be hard

Fast casual vegan - Edit

We decided to explore the brunch option here, it is very tasty, and we left feeling like we need to come back soon to taste more. Great french toast, veg sausage, cheesy grits, fried chicken drumstix, biscuits and tofu scramble. Nothing was a downer. We went back for lunch to get carryout steak sandwiches. They're not Philly style, but they are good, more of a bbq flavor.

Really deserving of a more upscale atmosphere, but hey - if you don't like it, you can always get carryout.

I was not impressed with the service for brunch. We went back for lunch and the wait time was really long. Glad to see more vegans, but wish that management was better prepared!

Pros: Range of options, Full vegan menu, Carryout option

Cons: Service

Tasty and Friendly! - Edit

I only recently learned that there was another branch of Nuvegan/Woodlands in college park. I do not suggest passing this place by. Seriously, go here. They have an extensive menu, ranging from the best fried chickn and macncheese i have had, to raw items and veggies. Although i got carryout, the atmosphere looked like a great place to hang out. They have free wifi too. I only wish they were close enough to deliver :(

Pros: mac n cheese. eat it., friendly staff, free wifi

Always delicious! - Edit

Nu Vegan has such a great selection of hot sides, cold sides, and baked goods. Their portions are huge and the quality is excellent, and so satisfying. I got the red curry tofu, which had the perfect level of spice and the sautéed cabbage (Nu realllly knows how to do cabbage right). I got a strawberry cupcake for dessert and it was a treat to have such a fresh strawberry taste throughout the super moist cake and icing. This is an absolute must for vegans if you're in the College Park area!!!!

Pros: Excellent food, Large Portions

❤️❤️❤️ - Edit

I really love it here. Sort of an a la carte. They let you taste samples.

I absolutely adore that they have their menu precisely marked with items you might be trying to avoid. If you are trying to avoid soy, it's clearly marked what has soy and what doesn't. If you're avoiding gluten etc.

Sooooo lovely. Initially overwhelming with so many options lol. I thought WOW, this is totally AWESOME!!! They were really nice about answering any questions you might have.

Pros: ❤️❤️❤️ Totally vegan and clearly defined menus for

Cons: Can get expensive but it's well worth it.

great food - Edit

This is only a couple of miles away from the hotel I'm staying in at the moment, so extremely handy. And it's great, everything I've tried in there so far has been lovely, the service was great, and it always seems to be quite busy. An excellent cafe.

Pros: great food, great staff, handy location

Cons: doesn't open early enough for breakfast

Vegan fast food and cafeteria - Edit

Since NuVegan opened in College Park, it's been my go-to place for take out when we don't feel like cooking dinner. The sandwiches tend to be a bit on the fried-and-fast-foodish side, but they are definitely worth trying - especially the crab cake sandwich. They are also larger than one person can comfortably digest at one sitting. I mostly stick with the hot dishes, which rotate daily. Favorites are the bbq tofu, eggplant parmesan, and salisbury steak. The "cheesy" dishes like the lasagna and mac n cheese tend to be too creamy/salty for me. The smoothies are very nice, set off by a pinch of cinnamon. The peanut butter smoothie is a bit of a unique offering and definitely worth trying. It's great to have a reliable vegan place in the neighborhood.

Vegan fare everyone will enjoy - Edit

Although NuVegan is decidedly, deliciously plant based, you can feel comfortable bringing your non-vegan friends here. The sandwiches and hot bar selections will feel very familiar to a meat eater ("cheesesteak" and their famous chick'n drumettes that will make you swear you are eating meat, complete with bamboo "drumstick"). The crew that runs the place are universally positive people which shows in their service. Watch out for the peanut butter smoothie, which is highly addictive but just over the top delicious. Can't say enough about how much I enjoy this place!

Best Black Beans Burger!!! - Edit

NuVegan Cafe has the best black beans burger I ever had!! The Chicken Sandwich is good too. Whenever I visit my family in the area, I try to stop by NuVegan Cafe to satisfy my cravings.

I took my family here a few times and they love the food too. They are non-vegans so it's nice to know the foods satiate every palette.

Pros: soul food, affordable, friendly staff

LOVE IT - Edit

We found NuVegan while on vacation from CT and are in love! So many great choices of faux meats that were truly delicious as well as a huge assortment of dishes, hot and cold, served cafeteria-style. Our family particularly loved the fried 'chicken', the Mac n' cheese, and the crab cakes! I know it isn't the healthiest vegan food but it's sooo good!

Pros: All vegan options, Great selection , faux meat options

So Many Choices! - Edit

Great find! So much fun when you can order anything on the menu and not have to ask for ingredients! More of a cafe feel than a comfy restaurant. Staff is very attentive and helpful. I had the lasagna and greens. A treat I haven't had for a very long time. A little on the sweet and heavy side, but good. My husband ordered the "chicken" drumsticks cooked up gluten free with a kale salad. Salad and side items looked fresh and plentiful in terms of choices. A fun, easy, informal place. Brunch on the weekends is reportedly busy. Meter parking in the back. Will definitely be a go-to option.

Pros: too many choices!!, items marked gluten and soy free

Vegan soul food cafe with juices and smoothies - Edit

The folks that brought you the infamous Woodlands Vegan Bistro have expanded to bring you this fabulous shiny new cafe in College Park. It's a great choice for vegan food. It's all vegan, all the time, so you can order anything your vegan stomach is interested in devouring.

Warning: you will want to order everything.

Great choices are the hot or cold samplers of 3 or 4 sides- there are great raw, gluten free cold sides, and many gluten free hot sides. For those who can eat gluten, you can eat it all. The mac and cheese, the lasagna, the tacos, the taco salad, the chik'n sandwiches, and the BRUNCH. They also have juices made to order and smoothies, as well as milkshakes. They are alright for juices and smoothies, but the milkshakes are sinfully delicious.

The desserts here are ok, but the cinnamon roll is awesome. Really, if you are gluten-free, you are missing out on brunch and dessert, so sorry! The brunch is incredibly gluten heavy from the burritos to pancakes to french toast, but you can have the potatoes and tofu scramble. It is so good!

You really can't go wrong if you order a sampler or entree with sides. There will be something you like! The only problem is service can be slow and maybe a bit full of attitude. Other than that - awesomeness!

Pros: 100% vegan, Brunch, Cold side dishes

Cons: Service
