Nuson
100/9, Thanon Ragang 1 (at Soi Ragang 3), Chiang Mai, Thailand,
นุสนธิ์ อาหารเจ Buddhist veg buffet just outside the old city in the southeast corner right side of Kamphaeng Din rd - look for a red and yellow Veg sign. Food is vegan, though some pre-made baked items contain egg - ask. Buffet food is cooked and placed in steamtable so you can see the dishes; no menu. Offers house-made gluten and tofu dishes, plus also baked goods and cookies, sandwiches, fresh spring rolls. Owner speaks some English. Spacious and airy compared to other Thai veg places. Jan 2017 reported still operating but maybe difficult to find. Open Mon-Sat 7:00am-3:00pm.

traditional Thai cafe with cheap vegan food - Edit
Nuson Restaurant is a typical Thai restaurant so hot food is placed in an un-heated bain marie so its either hot, warm or cool when you get to eat it ... I has a sampler dish of 4 dishes plus rice ... the food was nice and spicey and the quantity and quality of the food was very good ... friendly staff with little English but as you can point to what you want the language is not a problem ... cool clean restaurant offering cheap vegan food
Pros: very nice vegan food

Traditional Thai/Chinese, but very tasty - Edit
I encounter that place accidentaly on my way to home.
The place looks like many other of those type, however the food was better than most of the places of this kind. Great value!
Pros: Tastes better than most of this kind of places, Cheap (35 bht for rice with 2 sides), Good amount of dry and refridgeable products
Cons: It closes very early (3 pm)

5 star cos great value - Edit
Very basic and you chose from pre made options but for 30 baht you get 2 curries with rice. Really really worth it. They also have a section of items for sale. Can't go wrong for a no frills meal.
Pros: cheap, quick meal
Cons: basic but that's what it is not a fine dining

Cheap Simple Food - Edit
Not difficult to find at all, coming on to the moat from Chang Khlan road take the very first left on the corner and keep going down and you will see it on the right hand side.
Dishes are simple and cheap, usual Thai buffet fare and some decent snacks such as fresh spring rolls and other packaged things.
If you are vegan, don't take any of the cloudy looking drinks (milky) as they are made with cow's milk not soy milk, I could see this from the ingredients which are only in Thai. Apart from this, everything else should be vegan.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Not 100% vegan

Value - Edit
Simple & nourishing, can't beat the value. Cost 35B for a plate of rice with three choices from the buffet. I tried pumpkin, greens & some type of mock meat which wasn't terribly realistic (a good thing IMO).
Don't expect the food to be super warm, they rarely are in these buffet setups.
Overall I was pleased & would return. Such a bargain!
Location on happy cow may be inaccurate, I've submitted an update. Nuson is on Thanon Ragang, corner of Soi Ragang 3. Added a screenshot map of location. Enjoy!
Pros: Cheap , Veggies
Cons: Tepid food

Cheap vegan food - Edit
Good cheap vegan food. Open at 7AM (I was at 8 AM) so good for a vegan breakfast of rice and curries. Buddhist meal and a few snacks too including fresh sushi. Nice to have a morning option.
Location is on Ratang (road going south from south east corner of old city.
Pros: open mornings, cheap
Cons: same Buddhist meal

Good clean fresh food - Edit
Very clean, nice friendly owner, fresh and not overly cooked veg option buffet. Had a couple of delicious home made gluten dishes (and I'm usually not a big fan of mock meats). This place is vegan not vegetarian.
Pros: Delicious, Vegan, Local
