I’ve ordered from this place a few times, but my most recent experience was beyond unacceptable. I placed an order close to their closing time and received raw duck not undercooked, raw. Since they were closed by the time it arrived, I stored the food and planned to call them the following day.
When I did call, I was met with immediate defensiveness. Instead of taking the complaint seriously, they flat-out denied the duck was raw despite not seeing it. I offered to return the food, and they agreed to collect it and issued a small discount as a gesture. I placed a small follow-up order assuming the driver would collect the raw food as arranged. However, the driver didn’t take the item, and I was momentarily distracted, so I didn’t remind him.
Roughly an hour later, I received a call from someone claiming to be from the restaurant, stating they were outside my house to collect the duck. The tone was unnecessarily rude and confrontational. I told him I was leaving my house and that he could come back another day mainly to de-escalate the situation as my partner was inside and doesn’t handle things the same way I do and I didn’t want it to get unnecessarily hostile.
To prove we hadn’t consumed the food, I sent a live photo of the raw duck still sitting in my fridge. He clearly felt embarrassed with the fact that with him coming to “collect the duck” it was purely because he believed we ate the duck the day before and where looking for a discount so when I showed him the LIVE photo of the duck he probably felt embarrassed that he was wrong…. because why else would anyone keep duck in their fridge completely untouched for 24 hours to then call up the next day and receive a discount and for it to still be sitting untouched makes 0 sense, he doubled down and made it clear he believed I’d complained just to get a £4 discount.
Let’s be clear: I run my own business. I live in a private home (not a council flat) which he used as an offence when verbally abusing me and the idea that I’d go through all this over a £4 discount is frankly insulting. The conversation quickly devolved into outright verbal abuse, with the individual calling me names, claiming I was poor, and saying I couldn’t do anything about it. He stood outside my house for 10 minutes harassing me over the phone.

Had a vegan takeaway for 4 people and were super happy with the amount of options and the food itself was really tasty.
Read moreUnsure what their mock “meat” is but it had a really nice texture and absorbed the taste well.
Not from around here but will absolutely be requesting this take out every time we’re visiting our friends in the area - it’s that good!

Great vegan options - Edit
The vegan options here are vast and diverse and just what you want from a Chinese takeaway. I usually opt for the tofu in black bean sauce with veggie noodles, my partner has tried several of the vegan chicken dishes and has enjoyed them all. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is always ready quickly and arrives hot. I'm pleased we have such a great place in Hertford😄
