Pleasent Bistro, Seperate Vegan Menu.

No. 25 Bar and Bistro is situated not too far from the seafront in Rhos on Sea. They have a full and separate vegan menu that is available daily and can be viewed on No. 25s website. They accept bookings and walk-ins, and we visited as soon as they opened at noon. The decor is simple, and the atmosphere is mostly comfortable with a pinch of class.

I had three courses and a couple of drinks. They had soya milk as a dairy-free alternative, and the drinks menu did not contain vegan labelling. I had a Mintlet alcohol free cocktail and a soya cappuccino, and both were really well made. The vegan menu is included in the menu binder, so it does not need to be specifically requested. The dishes on offer are very simple, and when it comes to the mains, they have taken a 'one of each' approach. By this, I mean they have one each of a risotto, spaghetti, penne, pizza, and calzone dish. Although this seems they have a wide variety, it actually isn't the case as all these dishes have a tomato sauce base and roasted vegetables included in the dish. A similar thing happens in the desserts menu as all desserts have a fruit base and are served with vegan cream and ice cream.

I ordered the Sautéed Mushrooms in Olive Oil & Parsley, Mediterranean Risotto Cooked in a Tomato, Herb & Chilli Sauce and a Banana Split. The mushrooms starter was very nice, but the presentation was underwhelming. The presentation of the main could also have been improved, but the portion was decent, and the dish was nice enough but nothing special. The dessert was well presented, and I really like whatever vegan ice cream they used.

I'm thrilled that No. 25 cater specifically for vegans, and the staff were also knowledgeable on the vegan options too. The way No. 25 could improve by offering a greater variety of dishes. They could easily adapt the bases they already have, such as adding more pizza options and having a mushroom penne, for example. It also would offer a bit more variety if they added a vegan cake or cheesecake to the dessert menu, even if they bought one in.

Overall, No. 25 is a good option for vegans who are after some plain and unfussy italian food. It is also a good option for vegans after a heariter lunch amongst the seaside cafes of Rhos on Sea. I recommend reviewing the menu before visiting.

Pros: Seperate Vegan Menu, Nice Food, Great Atmosphere, Vegan Chocolate with Bill, Really Nice Drinks

Cons: Lacking in Flavour Variety, Only 1 Plant Milk Available
