I have to say, I was really impressed by Nukafuku. I am usually skeptical of gluten-free sweets as I often find them too oily and heavy, but the donuts here were incredible! We tried the seasonal apple cinnamon and chestnut cream first, and they were so good that we went back for the cranberry one to go. The vegan sausages were fantastic too!

They sell vegan donuts, and vegan ice cream, so you can also get ice cream sandwiches. I got the matcha, we also got the glacéd cranberry. Very yummy, lovely staff. Donuts made next door. We are now regulars for our stay in hakone

Small vegan shop at Gora Station - Edit
Made a stop here when we wanted to take the Hakone ropeway! Very friendly owner with quite a few vegan options. We had Dangos with soy sauce and tried two different donuts, everything was pretty nice. We even bought the Dangos a second time! The matcha latte was amazing as well.

The owner is incredibly sweet, it’s amazing that there’s a fully vegan and gluten free store in the area. I got the cranberry&lemon donut and added soy vanilla ice cream. The donut was pretty good, the ice cream was delicious!

Absolute must visit if you're in the area. I went there twice in a row because the red bean & cream donut was so delicious. The owner is also super kind, speaks great english, and all signs are written in English as well.

Amazing sweet treat in remote town - Edit
A vegan haven in such a rural area! The women took such good care of us. We were technically there an hour before she opened but she was happy to make us something delicious. We ate it so fast we forgot to take photos but there are plenty in the other reviews. We profusely thanked her for being vegan friendly in an area that is very hard to find vegan food in.

Don't be fooled by the touristy location, this tiny place was a joy to visit. The owner is friendly and kind, the coffee is great (you can choose the beans for it), and the sweets are delicious. Be aware that there is no option to sit inside.

What can I say, we were heading to the cable car station after having had a substantial breakfast, but I couldn't resist trying her matcha donut... and it was the BEST DECISION EVER!
Read moreIt was so yummy, and I didn't feel horrible after eating it, even though it wasn't particularly small!
But more importantly, the lady who runs this shop was so kind and sweet, and I love that she has the courage to run a business that promotes delicious AND guilt-free food in such a remote place.
So please, show her some love and get some of her products, I am sure you will not regret it :)

It’s so hard to find vegan chocolate in Japan, so this was amazing. The chocolate and cranberry doughnut was so good, and the lemon one tasted just like a lemon drizzle cake!! Ice cream on the top was extra amazing. Lovely staff.

I honestly didn't expect too much going in as I don't typically love GF baked goods. But the rice bran donuts-I had vanilla-are delicious and the perfect texture. They sit really well and aren't heavy too. I got the coffee flavored ice cream which was equally delicious. Definitely stop here if you're at Gora station. It's right by the cable car entrance.

Delicious food and great customer service. If you have the good fortune to visit in cherry blossom season the Amazake drink is so unique. Definitely try it and get it warm , so tasty.
