A Missed Opportunity in Livingston - Edit
Livingston's NowNow Cafe, despite its promising array of vegan options, left us underwhelmed on our recent visit. While the inclusion of plant-based dishes is exciting, the overall execution fell short, making the price point feel unjustified.
Read moreMy partner's Prego Roll was a mixed bag. The flavour was pleasant, but some tough, inedible bits detracted from the experience. We had confirmed our desire for jalapeños when ordering, yet they were initially forgotten, only arriving after a second prompt, a minor but noticeable service stumble.
The accompanying soup was unfortunately forgettable, lacking in depth; even basic salt and pepper couldn't rescue its blandness. Both our meals were served with chips that arrived disappointingly cold, and the "side salad" that came with the Prego Roll was so meagre it was almost comical.
My vegan chicken burger also failed to impress. While adequately cooked, it was served on a very basic, cheap-tasting roll. The advertised pineapple relish, a detail that initially piqued my interest, was barely discernible, adding little to the overall flavour. And yes, my chips were also cold.
Service, too, had its issues. Our drinks didn't arrive until after the food was served, and both were missing ice, despite the warm weather.
Ultimately, NowNow Cafe's current offering doesn't align with its pricing. The quality of the food and the overall dining experience simply don't justify the cost. While we appreciate the effort to include vegan choices, there's significant room for improvement in both the kitchen and front-of-house to make it a truly worthwhile destination.

Nice wee cafe in Livingston Shopping Centre with good vegan options and friendly staff. Had a vegan cheese toastie and chips with vegan mayo which was nice and good sized portion

Had a lovely lunch at NowNow. There is a nice variation of vegan options on their menu and they offer non-dairy options for coffee.

What a wonderful wee cafe never been before popped in to ask about soup was told it was vegan. Service was amazing and the food was brilliant
