Books and baguette - Edit
I loved the interior of this place, so pretty and full of style, yet very classic. The staff were very friendly, and I enjoyed the vegan baguette, although it might have been a tad too oily. It was great to browse the bookshelf and to read a bit while having a tea to wash down the meal.

Really cute cafe and lots of veggie choices - Edit
I had the baguette based on previous reviews and it was so tasty! The bread was very crispy and the vegetables were well seasoned. Also I enjoyed all the books and was able to read a bit of one with my meal!

Expensive but good - Edit
This cafe is really cute, deffo a nice place to spend some time. They have a vegan baguette which is really good. It’s got hummus and is packed full of roasted veg, very flavoursome and filling; deffo one of the best vegan baguettes I’ve had. There’s also a side salad which was really nice, fresh and had a tasty dressing. It was 37k kip which is expensive for SE Asia but pretty standard for restaurants in Luang Prabang. So more expensive but worth it!

Cow milk in the soy milk - Edit
Just a heads up to anyone who has been having coffee here with soy milk thinking it was vegan.. ITS NOT. I asked to see the soy milk they use and the ingredients state that it contains cow milk... not traces.. actual cow milk. This is incredibly dangerous for people who are lactose intolerant and deceiving for the rest of us. The staff either didn't care or didn't understand the issue. Unfortunately the owner wasn't around to directly express the problem so I am sharing here. Aside from this they have very few vegan options but the soups for instance are really good.

Loved this place - Edit
The Latte with soy milk has been the best coffee i had in SEA so far. The café itself is so so nice! They also have a few vegan things to eat, I loved the Ratatouille.

Great Chilled Cafe! - Edit
Great cafe with some super tasty Vegan options! Had Vegan Punpkin and carrot soup made with delicious creamy coconut milk and a hummus veg baguette. Can be hard to find Vegan food in Asia but Luang Prabang had plenty of places with options, I feel things are slowly changing maybe...

Great vegan sandwich - Edit
One of the best vegan sandwiches I’ve had in South East Asia: fresh crusty baguette with hummus, pepper, courgette and aubergine plus a side salad. I went back twice more for it! Good drinks selection, nice staff and cool vibe with a book swap in place too.

Great coffee - Edit
We only had coffee at this place but it was a nice change to have some other options than only Americano as a Vegan! They have soy and almond milk, prices were reasonable.

Couldn't find it - Edit
I searched around the area maps said it would be and I was standing right where it said it was but was not there! Maybe it has moved? Not sure.

Overpriced and Oily - Edit
Would be more enthused if the prices were more reasonable and they didn’t love to use oil/sugar syrup so much.

Amazing vegan options! - Edit
Great service and great aesthetic if you're looking for a more Western feeling oasis with many books available to borrow and good wifi.
Read moreLaos is known for its amazing French breads and pastries due to French colonialism in the late 1800s to mid 1900s. The vegan baguette at Novelty Cafe did not disappoint. I also enjoyed a fresh juice and roasted almond latte with soy milk (very sweet).
Definitely worth hitting up but like most sit-down restaurants in Luang Prabang, felt pretty expensive after a month of cheap eats in Thailand!!

Comfortable space with good food - Edit
I tried the three vegan options available at Novelty Cafe: a cous cous salad, a vegetable sandwich, and Auvergne toast. The dishes were quite good and the staff was attentive. It is pricey by Luang Prabang local standards, but still quite affordable compared to back home (in NYC).

Expensive but tasty - Edit
This was an expensive place to eat but the food was good although the green salad was very oily. We got the vegan baguette and the vegan cous cous salad. Both of these came with green salads on the side. The cous cous was the highlight, very nice flavours and olive oil came on the side (which we didn't bother adding). Baguette was 37k kip and salad was 43k kip.

vegan baguette is the star - Edit
Attractive looking cafe in good location with friendly resident woofer, George. Menu has a number of vegan options but the vegan baguette is the stand out! Sadly there's only the predictable 'seasonal fruit' on offer for desert. Prone to power cuts!

Nice place, a bit pricey - Edit
As mentioned before the vegan baguette is very good, although I found it (and the salad it comes with) too oily. I guess the eggplant absorbs lots of oil when cooked. The owner is so sweet and awesome!
