Great vegan options - Odd service! - Edit
Maybe the lady behind the counter just needed a hug—or a strong cup of tea—but her manner was definitely on the gruff side. Not rude exactly, just… not what you’d call warm.
Read moreIf you’re coming here, it’s probably either for the vegan breakfast options or for the curiosity factor—because the service is, well, a little unusual. Curiously, the vegan items are clearly marked on the menu, and there’s actually a surprising range of options for the Lower North Shore. So you’d think a couple of questions wouldn’t be too out of left field, but the server still looked genuinely baffled—like I’d just asked her to explain quantum physics before 9 a.m. It made for an odd kind of experience—one of those interactions where you’re not quite sure if you’re being charmed or barely tolerated.
I mentioned this experience to a friend who’s also been, and she’d had a similar experience. So maybe it’s just how things are done there, or maybe the lady’s got a lot on her plate and isn’t in the mood to sugarcoat. Fair enough—we’ve all had those days.
That said, the vegan BLT was actually pretty good. Not mind-blowing, but fresh and tasty. And the tea? Surprisingly decent. Finding a proper cup of tea in Sydney is like finding a parking spot in Newtown—possible, but rare enough to feel like a small victory.
All in all, it’s worth a visit if you’re after a plant-based bite and don’t mind a bit of unpredictability with your morning. Just come for the food, bring a little patience, and maybe offer a smile—it might just be what the place needs.
A quirky café with surprisingly good vegan options, let down slightly by frosty service. Worth a visit if you’re curious and patient.

Awful - Edit
Service and food were terrible. When I asked waitress if she could clean the highchair for my baby, she told me all the other mothers bring wipes. I said those are for her bum, can you please bring spray and a cloth for the chair as it’s dirty. She then got the spray and handed it to me to clean myself. I should have left then. When I asked for the PB menu, the same waitress required me to leave my baby and friends and read it off the wall. When I asked for a portable menu as I wanted to be with my friends and baby, she scoffed and said “I’m not sure where it is and I was just trying to be helpful”. She “found” the menu and handed it to me. I ordered the plant based breakfast. The mushrooms were pure black and tasted terrible, they “forgot” my avocado and tried to blame the fact that I had ordered an additional side as to why it didn’t arrive. The “bacon” was gross. I left half the breakfast on the plate. My friends meals were also very average. Would never go back. Just horrendous service and food experience! #Veganuary

Good destination for vegans in North Sydney - Edit
This place is really trying and would benefit from kind vegans helping them in their journey. Little confusion over GF bacon but otherwise all their vegan items were great. We split a big brekkie and the baked beans were amazing. Good coffee and very friendly, helpful service with an enjoyable vibe.

Great breakfast - Edit
A great smaller venue with a nice courtyard and street seating. You’ll need to ask for the plant based menu - and re-confirm on ordering plant based (they do double check with you if they are unsure).
Read moreSome confusion over the facon which is not gluten free (made with plants brand). The butter they used was nuttelex so great there.
The owner came up to chat to us to see if we liked the menu, and they are really trying to bring more vegan options and understanding of dietaries. Loved the service and would go back again.

Nice cosy courtyard - Edit
So this was nice, had it on our radar to try, I think the Plant Based range has increased from when we first looked at it.
Read moreIt has a good array of choices with quite a reasonable range of breakfast and lunch choices so certainly enough choices to keep everyone happy. The courtyard was nice, heaters were running, it was quite cosy, it wasn’t a cold cold day outside but if it was I think it would still be ok.
We had Brekky Wrap as GF, Big breakfast and Our Stack. Brekky Wrap served on a GF wrap however it has the “Made with Plants” Facon in it, so, not so GF. Big Breakfast was OK, I had a hash brown with it as an extra, which was a hand made, potato cake type hash brown, it was ok, not what I was expecting. The Our Stack was good, it came with a very large serve of half an avocado on the spinach and mushrooms. I feel the Big Breakfast could have a tofu scramble or similar with it because without the hash brown it might have been a bit underwhelming. I found the Big Breakfast at another local haunt a bit better tbh.
Spinach and mushrooms cooked in oil, so a bit greasy for us as we are low to no oil, so we really notice it. Oil provides that lustre I suppose rather than just some blanched spinach so I get it but it was a bit ott for our liking.
It is just across the road from what will be the new Crows Nest Metro station that might be open in 2023.

Good vegan options! - Edit
This place has just launched a vegan breakfast menu which is so great because Crows Neat typically has few vegan options. Love that they are catering to vegans with a whole plant based menu. It’s really well thought out and the staff were so friendly to check on things for us. Had the vegan BLAT and my husband had the Vegan big breaky. Definitely try it!
