Might be best vegan place in sg - Edit
Cat and Japanese themed cafe with cat memes all over the place. Feels like a young cat person designed the decor.
Read moreTried their hash wagon burger, 9.5/10. Tomato focaccia as buns gave a lot of flavour and crunchy fried panko patty and mayo sauce gives Japanese Katsu feels. The fries feels homemade, extremely crunchy, better and larger portion than vegan burg.
Their Thai basil rice is 8/10, lacking a little umami and wok hey.
Tonkotsu ramen 7.5/10, broth tasted a little bland, on sweeter side and lacks umami, had many that are better in Japan.
Their 'takoyaki' 9/10, crispy version of takoyaki, generous seaweed, light, well sauced, mushroom used for Tako.

Japanese-Inspired Vegan & Allium Free Food, Calm Pretty Decor - Edit
Fully vegan and allium-free eatery focusing on Japanese and Asian / local cuisine, with a recently redesigned interior and revamped menu. Food was quite good, including some unique items not commonly available elsewhere in Singapore. For Japanese mains, I would especially recommend the Mikan Teri katsu in fruity teriyaki sauce and vegan mayo, as well as the Ochazuke Set (rice and puffed quinoa in a broth blending green tea, roasted rice, and vegetable dashi stock, served alongside abura-age sweet beancurd pouches and fried mushrooms). As for Japanese sides, I was impressed by the Spud Samurai sweet potato croquette, Takoyaki with mushroom and cabbage fillings, as well as Chukka Sango cold tangy beetroot konjac noodle salad inspired by seasoned jellyfish. Asian / local dishes were great too, such as the Bak Kut Teh and Satay. Ohlulu Black Potion black sesame dessert with Oatside was ridiculously delicious as well. Appreciated the calm vibes, adorable plating presentation with tiny toy figurines, as well as the pretty decor (think handmade origami cranes, Loz brick set of a Japanese shop, etc)! They sell some dry and frozen groceries too. From Paya Lebar MRT Exit B, it’s located a few bus stops away via bus 134 / From Dakota MRT Exit A, it’s located a few bus stops away via bus 31.

It's a 5 for me - Edit
I don't know or care what it "used to be", but it's amazing right now. Compared to an alternative like iVegan for a purely vegan restaurant in the vicinity, it smashes it on value, quality and taste. Rendang is fire.

Used to be good, now less so - Edit
Edit: the management changed and they gutted the menu and raised the prices. The things mentioned in my original review are no longer available. I'll leave my original review for the memory of what it once was.

North South East West is located in my neighborhood. It's that place that you know that always has something you like has an atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable.
The menu is huge and it stretches from veggie burgers to fake sharkfin soup. There is plenty of seating and it has A/C.
I recommend the Assam Fish head curry. It's one of the more expensive things on the menu at around 13sgd, but veg assam curry is hard to find so I gladly pay it (The only other placy I know that serves it is in Bedok where it's 6sgd). The laksa is good, but a little watery. The fried chili tofu is good if you like spice. I also haven't had anything bad so sometimes I just order random things to see what it is.
To order, go the front as there are no waiters. take a menu and paper, then you go back up and get your food when it's ready. They take nets and cash no credit cards though.

Wonderful dining experience! - Edit
Thank you for my wonderful dining experience here!
Read moreThe restaurant was clean, comfortable, and well decorated with quotes on kindness.
All the staff was polite, friendly, helpful, and observant. A staff member served me a cup of plain water when he noticed that I didn't handle the spiciness level of a dish well.
The South Indian rice set was so delicious and authentic! Most places that sell Indian food without alliums couldn't make it as flavourful as the usual Indian cuisine, but this restaurant showed that it is absolutely possible! They totally nailed it!
It felt like home to dine here with such a comfortable ambience, delicious food, and being served by staff members who are so warm and make me feel deeply welcomed.
I will definitely bring my family and friends to visit next time!
Pros: Excellent customer service, Delicious food, Clean and cosy environment

Cool name - Edit
Mostly Chinese Singaporean dishes veganized. Noodle soups and rice. They have western food which doesn't appear to be vegan (cheese). I liked what I had. Hainanese beef noodle soup which was like a brownish braised soup with Chinese veggies. The “shredded beef” was so uncanny that I had doubts a couple times while eating. I have to say, it kinda hit the spot for a craving I didn’t even know I had. Will not be needing “beef” in a while. But at the same time, it was a little freaky. Probably texturally the closest I’ve come to meat in a while. They have other stuff tho.

What I had: Jia Xiang noodles, dumplings, sea cucumber and broccoli, and Jia Xiang tofu
Read moreThe Jia Xiang noodles are relatively more flavourful, without being overly doughy (which happens a lot with Chinese wheat noodles). The sea cucumber had a really bouncy, konnyaku-like texture (in fact, I think it’s made from konnyaku), and soaked up much of the taste without being overly oily. I love how fresh the broccoli was - cooked to just the right texture without being too soggy or undercooked.
However, the Jia Xiang tofu was a little disappointing, because the huge block simply didn’t soak up enough of the sauce. Not that I particularly enjoy eating chinese dark stew sauce (卤), but I thought if they were going to use that sauce the taste should at least be more distinct. The dumplings were a lot better than many other places, with a generally above average flavour, but the filling to dough ratio was questionable.
I do love how fast their service is though! Everything came all at once, including the dessert (white fungus soup- the white fungus was too hard and the soup tasted like white sugar water). Would love to come back to try their dimsum :)
Pros: fast service, extensive menu, good noodles

Popular place with extensive menu - Edit
It's a nice little self-service restaurant, which makes you feel a little like in a cantine, but it still has a very friendly ambience. They offer a huge variety of dishes, western and asian, and include veggies as well as a lot of meat substitutes. They don't use garlic or onions. On request they will make your food less or more spicy, whichever you prefer. The place was crowded when we went, lots of locals seem to come here on a regular basis - and so would I, if I lived nearby. The prices are okay or even cheap for Singapore and the food is really nice! At the counter they sell a few vegetarian products, for anyone looking for noodles without the usual chicken or prawn flavouring, this is perfect.
Read morePros: good quality, little "shop" at the counter, fast and friendly service
