Really helpful little store

This may not be a big store but it still manages to stock a good variety of products and if they don't have what I want they will always do their best to order it in for me. They carry a large selection of organic products at pretty fair prices.

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, Great selection of foods , High quality vitamins and minerals

Terrible, don't bother unless you want crystals

It hardly counts as a health food shop to be honest - it's full of crystals, rocks, aromatherapy oils and relaxation CDs. Food choices are aimed at gluten free more than anything else.
There's nothing here that I couldn't find in Sainsbury's, and Sainsbury's has a wider choice.
There's alternative treatment rooms above so this tiny, tiny shop is often busy with people going through, phoning or coming in with enquiries, and staff like to chat to other customers while you are waiting to pay.
Don't expect to find vegan cheese, refrigerated tofu or vegan baking ingredients here.
Cockermouth used to have an excellent, larger health independent store before the floods and there's enough demand for another one here.

Small but handy

Cockermouth seems to be too small to support a full-sized health food shop (there was one but it closed down after the first lot of floods) so instead we have this selection on the ground floor of an alternative therapy clinic. There is no chilled or frozen produce and the range is too small to have a proper shop here once a week, but sometimes when you are missing one unusual ingredient this place is just the ticket. I suppose it is rather expensive and at the moment (summer 2015) the exterior is being renovated, but soon it should be looking spruce again. Has sugar-free chocolate, too.

Edit: They have added a chiller cabinet with vegetarian sausages etc.
