A bright spot in SLU

This place has the same owners as Plenty of Clouds and a fairly similar experience where the food is excellent and the menu is almost anti-helpful but the servers are conversant with the vegan side of things.

The menu offers a cryptic note that says “don’t like pork? No problem! Sub chicken or braised tofu (vegan).” I asked the server to take me through what could be vegan and her first response was “just sub tofu.” I said…sure, but a bunch of these things say egg noodle or chicken broth. She replied that they have both a vegetarian broth and non egg noodles. And seemed fairly credible. Then it becomes a little hard to tell what the difference between the resulting dish is, but moving on.

The yibin burning noodles were one of the top 5 best things I’ve eaten this year—a very unique dish that showcases a very fresh tasting walnut. Also makes use of fresh shiitake (compare to the gross dried shiitake use at Babar). Cucumber based appetizer also incredible. So while the 3 stars is for the pointless friction in the ordering experience, the food is incredible. Eye wateringly expensive for a remarkably vibeless place but it is the heart of Amazonia.

Obsessed

I love noodles, it’s amazing to find a restaurant in Seattle with so many vegan options where you don’t had Ave to modify the hood very much at all. The sauces are mouth watering, I can’t even get them out of my head. They also use Mala spice which physically feels good to eat as well as tastes amazing. I dream of this food!!

Pros: Food, Flavors, Variety
