AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! - Edit
VEGANS BEWARE.
Read moreI had seen whispers (likely sponsored) of the vegan omakase at Nobu being very good. Let me tell you... it is not.
Genuinely, the WORST meal I have ever had in my life. And one of the most expensive...
It cost $125 per person for the vegan omakase.
They give you the most unimaginative, unsavory dishes. I genuinely had to keep myself from spitting out my food and I have never ever had this experience before in a restaurant.
For context, I have studied abroad in Japan and have lived all over, so I am not unfamiliar with the cuisine. Additionally, I have had amazing vegan dining in various cities, so I know what is possible with the cuisine.
The okra was slimy (anyone familiar with okra knows that this means it was not cooked properly, unless slimy was their intent...). The sushi was both bland, but also somehow intolerable (I almost spit out 3 out of 4 of the rolls) like eating chemical grass.
It was to the point that I was dreading each course... the bigger the plate, the more I worried.
The only ok dish was the mushroom teppanyaki. The dessert was the highlight -- chocolate covered coconut-style cream and sorbet with berries. Definitely do not go here for the vegan omakase. I wish I had seen a review like this before I went. Save your $$$ and go to Master Kim's vegan KBBQ instead!
Pros: dessert
Cons: the rest of the food

Very good! - Edit
It’s definitely Nobu, so expect to spend $$$ and fight for a reservation. Food is so tasty, our server was the most knowledgeable person ever. She knew what was vegan as-is, what can be made vegan, etc.

Surprisingly great! - Edit
Went with a group of omni folks, thinking I'd get a couple avocado and cucumber rolls and eat on the way back to my hotel. Boy was I wrong! The waiter told be they could do their omokase veganized. They can adjust it to your tastes but I just let the chef choose. The menu says the whole table has to order but that wasn't the case . Everyone at the table wanted what I was having! It was so good and so different. I went in a doubter but left with one of the best Vegas dining experiences I've had.
