Fantastic little place with great food and great staff

Found this place using the HappyCow app and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We had excellent vegan food and great coffees, and the place has a nice relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area. Tried to give 5 stars but the app won’t let me because the place is not entirely vegan.

Little Gem!

Travelling through Barnard Castle to look at antique shops - decided to call in here ( unusually not through Happy Cow App as the stop was not really planned). Delighted to find they could make oat milk cappuccinos and even more delighted to see several vegan cakes. Service was very friendly and they recommended we sit next door in the bookshop which we did on a lovely comfy sofa. Coffee and vegan carrot cakes were brought into us and we had a lovely time chatting to locals and perusing the books. Great coffee and cake - good value and just all round delightful!

Pros: Lovely friendly welcome and service, Good value, Excellent coffee and cake

Coffee & Cake

Very welcoming cafe with good vegan options. The cafe is small so getting a table can be difficult, but luckily we managed to get the last table outside, where we shared a biscoff and banana cake and ginger cake. The ginger cake was deliciously moreish, but the biscoff and banana cake was going a little dry. Still tasty though. Special mention must also go to the coffee, which was absolutely superb. Would definitely visit again.

Pros: Good vegan options , Staff

Cons: Small

Amazing

I had the vegan falafel (which I normally don’t like) flatbread and it was so good. Plenty of options and staff are lovely. They also have a bookshop with some fab books.

Couple of options for lunch. We had a falafel flatbread, and a Mexican soup & 2x oat americanos. All were delicious. No vegan pies available although they did have a veggie pie.

Pros: Several vegan options, Pleasant service

Cons: No vegan spread available for bread

Great for coffee and cake

This place is now called McNab’s. We stopped impromptu for some coffee and cake, and I got a beautiful squidgy and nicely spiced carrot cake 👌🏼

Good Vegan Cake

Now seems to be called McNabs? Very good coffee with oat milk, a couple of vegan cakes to choose from, had a tasty date and orange one. Lovely spot, sitting in the October sunshine.

Little café with friendly staff

Barnard Castle is a lovely town and it‘s just amazing how many vegan places it has now! This lovely café had loads of vegan choices and some good vegan breakfast. The cakes are always changing and there are always different vegan options available.
Priced are good, staff very friendly!

Pros: Many vegan options, Not too pricy , Friendly staff

Cons: Not too many places to sit , Can get cold in winter

Lovely and welcoming

Found this cafe on Happy Cow, which I’d never used before !

Sat in the bookshop next door and the staff took our order as the main cafe is very small. Super welcoming and so friendly with my toddler.

There was a good selection of vegan food and I had an oat milk latte.

Chose the falafel flatbread and was not disappointed. Would definitely eat here again. Noticed they had vegan cakes too but was too full!

Pros: Friendly staff , Brilliant food and choice , Lovely surroundings

Cons: Small cafe itself , No vegan cheese available on that day

Hidden gem

Tiny space, walked past it twice, great friendly, helpful staff, vegan mains and cakes, bigger portions than expected well worth the price.

Pros: The vegan meatball toasted sandwich 🥰

Cons: Medium priced big portions.

lovely little cafe

We were in Barnard Castle for a weekend and it was a struggle to find somewhere to eat, so thank goodness for No 15! Had a very large vegan burrito, which wasn't the best I've had but certainly filled a hole and then some. Was quite sad not to have had space for the vegan chocolate cake they had on offer...

independent coffee shop

No 15 coffee house is a small and independent cafe in the centre of Barnard Castle. They always have vegan options including a vegan chocolate cake which is very tasty. Soya milk is available for drinks. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Pros: vegan options, tasty food, reasonable prices.
