Plenty of choices

Good Indian food (not the best I’ve had, but totally fine) with many options. Just ask to not use ghee or butter. Went there twice as it seemed to be pretty much the only place in Phonsavan with vegan options. Had the potato & eggplant in sauce dish as well as a lentil dahl. Both were good. The naan bread was very good. The owner seems to be waiter and cook at the same time, so he’s very busy and not particularly friendly.

Gut

Das Gericht war sehr fein, das Butter-Nahn war nicht gut; das Brot war ok aber die Butter war noch hart und nur bisschen verstrichen...

Phonsavans saving grace

Honestly, if it was not for this place - the food during my stay would have consisted only of plain rice and noodles. The owner takes the orders and cooks, so if it is busy it may take a little long. But the wait is worth it, so be patient.

limited hours

the owner has cut back to Saturdays only - he relies on tourist trade which has more of less stopped

Pros: good food when you can get it!

Cons: very limited service

Usual Fare

Popular Indian restaurant. Lots of options. Food is good and tasty. The owner seemed a bit flustered taking people's orders, especially when we asked about not using ghee and butter etc. asking us 'why' like it was a weird request. Eventually he understood. Good food and decent price, and probably the only vegan food available in Phonsavan.

Ridiculously good

The meals here are ridiculously good. You can ask for anything that would taste great. Just make sure to tell the owner about your vegan requirements to guarantee your total satisfaction. Samosas are the best ones I ever had in my life.

Pros: Samosas, Options, Taste

DELICIOUS

So great. We got aloo gobhi (potato and cauliflower dry curry) and mutter baigan bharta (eggplant, green peas and masala, 4 garlic naan (no butter for vegans!) And a can of coke for 75,000 kip. Owner speaks english and happy to make modifications. We were very happy and full after this meal

Pros: Cheap, Accommodates vegans, Excellent food

The reason why to stay in Phonsavanh

Excellent vegetarian options in this Indian restaurant, especially everything with mushrooms ! They also use tofu instead of paneer and serve beer. It´s inexpensive, veg meals with rice are about 20.000 Kip. The owner looked somehow sad but when we came fourth day and orderd same meal (mushrooms with palak) again, he finally smiled :-) !

Pros: Excellent food!, Serves beer

Cons: serves meat also

One of the best vegetarian options in town

Being a Indian cuisine restaurant, one can be absolutely sure about the veg fare on offer here at this restaurant. Moderately priced, and a meal for 2 should cost about 50,000 - 100,000kip.

Pros: the variety of curries and dals and the Indian fla

Cons: Nothing in particular... :-)

Best and Only

If Indian food is your thing, Nisha is a veg*n's absolute saving grace in Phonsavan - if not, good luck with your salad baguettes and instant noodles!

As well as being the only truly veg-friendly eatery in town, Nisha produces decent servings of truly delicious North Indian fare for very reasonable prices.

Pros: Delicious food, Reasonable prices, Generous portions

Cons: Not 100% veg*n
