This place isn't worthy of 5 stars! There is no scale! The flavours here are phenomenal! I see complaints of oily foods, being a low oil eater I still make exemptions for a place like this. This isn't a place to eat everyday but once or twice a week for sure. I think Indian and chinese food is usually much more oily. Anyways, they have a variety of veg proteins and vegetables. My favorites are the jerk chicken, curry broccoli, and curry tofu. Will try the fish and ginger chicken and let you know!

tasty and mostly gluten free - Edit
Not much for decor, but a few tables, service with a smile. Great food for a reasonable price. Faux drumsticks were great as well as the brown stew.

surprising vegan place - Edit
Just being vegan makes it special. the eggplant was my favorite, surprisingly. the curried tofu was deeo fried and quite oily. it tasted good but the oil did spill over my container i can't deny. the broccoli and cauliflower seemed to have breadcrumbs, whatever it was made it good. i walked in at open time and the food looked bright and colorful. the atmosphere was quite austere, kind of a contrast to the reggae music playing but it was clean looking if nothing else. i would have liked to try the jerk tofu. it looked delicious. i think some rice would have added to the meal i felt bad for overlooking the tip jar. Sorry.

Caribbean vegan - Edit
I love vegan Caribbean counter service spots. This one is in downtown New Haven, a couple streets away from the main area, but it’s definitely worth the trip. They have a buffet table with lots of dishes that rotate daily. They offer different size platters, and you can mix and match different items. I opted for the largest platter, which gives you the choice of 7 items. I got broccoli, dal, stew, jerk tofu, curry tofu, eggplant, and green beans. It was a mountain of food—super generous helpings, and a phenomenal value at $12.99. I especially love that you get such a nice variety. They also have some menu items that you can order, like various savory pies. I’d be keen to try some of those, as well.

Definitely Worth It - Edit
I’m so happy that this place has gone completely vegan! I stopped in here for a small combo plate and loved every bite. I cannot wait to come back so that I can sample more of their items. What they lack in interior space (there is a modest dining area), they make up for in friendliness and tasty food.

Best Vegan Eats in New Haven - Edit
I haven’t been to New Haven for a couple of months and decided to come out to eat something filling and delicious. I was looking for something better than Claire’s Cornucopia. Now don’t get me wrong Claire’s is a dependable source for vegan options. But they are too expensive and never have the amount of flavor that I have just experienced here. The owners were lovely and have a warm and welcoming disposition. The food bar is adequately stocked with a variety of food but the best for me was the Jerk Tofu and the eggplant that they serve. It is spicy but I’m not one to shy away from the spice as I am of South American descent and eating jalapeños on a daily basis isn’t new to me. The place isn’t anything fancy but appearances are not the reflection of the food and how great it is. For all my vegan peeps I would recommend the market 100%.

Amazing Jamaican Food - Edit
This is such a great find in downtown New Haven. It's a small place ... with four tables ... but has tons of great food. There is over a dozen of buffet-ish options plus a handful of patties. Most dishes are gluten free. Soy dishes are listed. We went there twice in two days. Everything we had was fantastic!

authentic vegan Jamaican - Edit
This place is great. The owners are warm and welcoming and the food is delicious. It's not overly salted, so all of the natural flavors come thru. The jerk tofu was wonderful. Lots of good options for sides, I went with curry veggies and greens. Definitely going back. UPDATE 12/2/17 they are now doing brunch Saturday I just had tofu scramble, ackee, calaloo, plantains and vegan sausage. This place is awesome.

Great vegan Jamaican food - Edit
First of all, I can confirm that Ninth Square Market is completely vegan--the owner said all food and drinks are vegan, not just vegetarian. Their food was great--several curries, callaloo, jerk tofu, patties, etc., mostly served buffet style at the counter. They even have ackee patties, though they were out when I went, but they said one can call them beforehand, and they can make that. You get large portion sizes--if you get the large plate, it's almost as good as "all you can eat".

Mostly vegan / awesome staff and food - Edit
Caf style service of fresh made foods. Staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. Portions are generous and priced reasonably. Jamaican / Caribbean food, some spicy some mild. Everyone I've sent there has had nothing but good reviews. Quickly becoming New Haven's vegan hotspot.
