Wonderful - absolutely delicious vegan loco moco - Edit
This is truly a mom and pop operation. Saudia, her husband and son have created an incredibly warm, inviting, marvelous and creative vegan restaurant. The vegan loco moco with the homemade gravy was to die for, and the lion's mane mushroom dishes were amazing - the tastiest mushroom preparation I've ever had (I believe she said charred, marinated and recharred). Don't miss 9th Island Vegan if you are in or near North Shore.

Utterly delicious - Edit
Visiting from Australia, on a road trip around Oahu we planned our stopover around 9th island - and it was totally worth it. The food is delicious and the owners are delightful, warm and welcoming. The lasagne roll and the Caesar salad were incredible, generous portions and amazing flavours. Our search for vegan funnel cake ended here - it came loaded with whipped cream and berries and was a triumph! We left full and happy, and with tips on places to visit and see wildlife. 11/10 - do it!

Best Vegan in North Shore - Edit
Food is very good and much different than the typical food you see on the island.
Read moreWe had the Jackfruit melt, the Spinach Artichoke dip, and the Lions Mane Pasta, as well as the Caesar. The Spinach Artichoke dip was phenomenal and the pasta was incredible. All the food was much better than we expected and I would put 9th island in our top 3 all vegan spots in Oahu. I would say that our top 3 is 9th Island, Tane, and Floralia.
Great people from Vegas and brought the Vegas theme to the North Shore. They have some original stuff from the casinos which is a cool touch!
Pros: Rich flavorful food, Large portions, Very friendly owners
Cons: None!

AMAZING but PRICEY - Edit
I've been here a couple of times now, tried a variety of their dishes, and can confidently say that they are absolutely amazing!! The owners are nice and the chef loves to talk about what he does. Eating here feels like soul food☺️
Read moreWhere I believe the food is amazing, I took away a star for the pricing. My friends and I all agreed that while the food was great, the portions were pretty small for the price tag. I would suggest lowering prices a little bit to match the portion sizes or upping the portion size to match the price 🤷🏽♀️
(There was one or two dishes where the price matched what the portion was, but majority did not)
Pros: Taste, Atmosphere, Good selection of menu items
Cons: Food portions, Prices, Some tables are wobbly

Mocko loco with a side Caesar salad. Huge portion sizes, delicious, and homey vibe. Would buy bottles of that Caesar dressing in a heartbeat. Really friendly owner. Absolutely worth the stop when passing through the north shore.

Best Caesar Salad I've Ever Had - Edit
Second time eating here and I'm already looking forward to the next! The caesar salad is my absolute favorite! Generously coated in dressing (my ideal) but my partner did say he could have done with just a bit less dressing—to each their own 🤷♀️.
Read moreWe ordered a large caesar to share, crabby cakes, and the potato hash. Everything was tasty but the caesar will always have my heart! For those familiar with Veggie Grill on the mainland, it's similar, but WAY better, in my opinion!
I had the crabby cakes and I do think I enjoyed them. I'm a little uncertain as I'm just getting over being quite sick and am still not able to fully taste things. I've never had crab before so I can't speak to how similar it tastes to the real thing, but I do think most people would enjoy. The crispiness on the outside was especially nice!
Will be back again soon for this delicious salad!! Finding a vegan casear on O'ahu isn't the most heard of so I'm really over the moon this place exists! 🤩
Pros: Best Caesar I've Ever Had , Friendly Family-Owned Restaurant, Lots of Options!

Haleiwa Vegan Eats - Edit
My partner and I visited at the end of January while on a Grand Circle Island Tour. Our tour had us take a 1 hours stop in Hale’iwa and we were super excited to find all-vegan 9th Island Vegan. We had lasagna rolls, ceasar salad, fried pickles, and the tostada pizza. Everything was super tasty, I especially loved the pickles and my lasagna and salad. I definitely recommend!

Jackfruit & Funnel Cake - Edit
Favorites: quesadilla, jackfruit krabby cakes, and the jackfruit melt
Read moreIt’s always great to have another fully vegan restaurant on Oahu, especially on North Shore. The location is great (plenty of parking on the side and back). Their serving sizes are generous and I love the sides that come with the different dishes. I particularly enjoyed the heaping pile of fruit and cream for the funnel cake. With a family of 3 we are full from one side and one entree, but always order more and take home leftovers because the food is so good.
I thought the patty melt was just okay- but I’ve only tried it once.

Nothing to moo about. - Edit
I probably should have had the lions Mane special, but opted for the Patty Melt. It was soggy, laced with too much salt, uninspired, and not worth the price. Very disappointed. The bright spot was the side of coleslaw with pineapple and fresh ginger.

Lots of great options - Edit
The food was good, not amazing in my opinion but it hit the spot! Tried the sweet potato wrap and the “mocko loco.” The wrap was very flavorful, but almost in an overpowering way? And the vegan moko loko was made with impossible burger which was tasty but not particularly creative.

I love tofu - Edit
I had just finished surfing and had built up an appetite.
Read moreI hadn't tried this place and wanted to check it out because I had done the cosmic kitchen next door and even though that was good it was a bit too "health food" for me.
9th island has a variety of dishes available. They have wraps and salads, burgers and pasta. I decided to get the tofu wrap with no mushrooms. I don't really like mushrooms and it seems the star of the show at this place is the mushroom because it is in every dish. However it wasn't an issue for them to make it without mushrooms.
I dined in and after a few minutes this giant burrito sized wrap was brought to me. I was thrilled because I was worried I might be hungry after. The portion was huge. And it was full of tofu. The tofu was flavored so well - it was a little smokey and really yummy. I highly recommend this wrap. I felt very full after and it kept me full the rest of the day. I also felt good getting in all that protein right after a good surf session.
I also got the strawberry lemonade which tasted like blended strawberries in lemonade. It was perfect and reminded me of how my dad would make lemonade for me as a kid with the lemons from our back yard. It was fresh and perfect.
The only thing I would want more from at this restaurant is more traditional Hawaiian food. Like a vegan spam styled dish or some BBQ jackfruit with the same sauce you would find at other parts of the island. Nothing they served was particularly Hawaiian, but they had delicious vegan food in general.
Pros: Big portions , I could leave out the mushrooms, Fresh and flavorful
Cons: No traditional Hawaiian style food
