Simple, fresh, with limited vegan options

Nini’s is a colorful place with a meat-centric menu. It’s minimally vegan-friendly, in that they don’t have any intentionally or thoughtfully crafted vegan options, but they do have a few vegan-by-subtraction items that can be ordered without the animal stuff (meat, cheese, and sour cream). That subtraction leaves you with the basics: beans, veggies, and rice. We order burritos with just beans and veggies (without the rice since we don’t need more carbs than the tortilla itself provides), or veggie tacos without the cheese and sour cream.

The ingredients are freshly prepared, and flavors are pretty simple since the only thing that has much flavor is the salsa, of which there are many varieties to choose from, but unfortunately they don’t include very much of it by default (unless you ask for extra, which is recommended if you want more flavor or some kick).

We would come more often if they were to add a few plant-based menu items, such as vegan tamales, nopales, grilled portobellos, tempeh/jackfruit tacos, house-made cashew cheese, etc. Maybe someday. (Well-crafted vegan dishes seem to be working well for Switchback just up the street, which has more flavorful vegan items).

Simple and Delicious

I had their bean and rice tacos and a veggie taco. Both were simple and delicious. They have both corn or flour tortillas. You can choose any salsa from a range of mild to extra spicy in both fruity or more vegetable-ey flavors. The counter staff who are also the cooks were very happy to guide me through their vegan options and very friendly. Of course more vegan options are better, but I also like simplicity! The variety in this restaurant really comes through their salsa options!

Pros: Vegan options, Knowledgeable and friendly staff, Many salsa options - all vegan

Cons: Not a vegan restaurant, Limited vegan options

My favorite place in town

This was my favorite place before I was vegan and it still is! My whole family loves it. I stick with their bean and rice burritos now but with all the salsa choices there is so much flavor and different ways to dress it up.

Pros: Family owned. Lots of love and care in the food.

Cons: They don't have spiced tofu or Tempe which would b

Tasty tacos and more

It waa great to actually have multiple options on the menu--burritos, tacos and quesadillas (for the lacto-veg) all of which you could have with either rice and beans or grilled veggies. They also have about 10 house made salsas you can choose from. I had grilled veg tacos with tomatillo salsa - yum!
