After walking in the nyc heat for miles, I thought by the time we'd get there we'd be dead, and it would be indeed the next level burger. But once we found it, I bit into that burger that stacked levels higher than any ordinary burger, and I knew the taste was too real. I was very much alive.

I eat here way too often but this Portland-native all-American all-vegan burger joint is too good to pass up. They recently refreshed their menu and all the ghost pepper fare is absolutely delectable. Top notch food and friendly workers who deserve every raise they get. They don’t make burgers like they used to and that’s a good thing.

Excellent vegan fast food place located inside Whole Foods. Either for takeout/delivery or for eating in-store; there are nearby stools, nearby tables, and an outdoor area right by Whole Foods as well. Although not necessarily super-healthy, certainly much, much more healthy than typical fast-food fare.

INSIDE the Whole Foods. The ground floor is this and several other restaurants. The basement is the grocery store. Next Level Burger has been consistently delicious over the years. It's a chain, but they are committed to quality. They have Beyond Meat and other "realistic" burgers, as well as old school veggie burgers that are scrumptious in their own right, but not meant to exactly mimic meat. Almost everything has both a gluten-free and a regular option. Shakes are spectacular as well. Don't miss the sweet potato fries!
Read moreAffordable for the neighborhood. It's in Brooklyn, but just a few minutes out of Manhattan. It's near the giant Atlantic subway and train terminal, the legendary BAM theater, Barclays Center sports stadium, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, and the Apple store.

Read moreI personally enjoy their Fish(less) burgers. There's a floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the seating area, where you can watch people go by. (Please note that in New York City, proof of COVID vaccination is required for indoor dining).

My Milkshake - Edit
I feel bad giving this three stars, but for one burger and one milkshake, it took more than the expected wait time, and there was no one in front of us in line. The cashier gave us an attitude, and it made us a tad uncomfortable. As far as the milkshake, I've made better milkshakes than this myself, and I was disappointed. It was a bit better after it melted a bit. Its consistency was too "icy" for me. The burger was very messy to eat and looked sloppy, but that's not necessarily a negative unless you're looking for a nice photo. It as yummy, and it was eaten quickly. I think I could have had a very different experience if I just went on a different day. I'll have to come back and see if I can improve this review.

I wish I could eat here every day. My friend and I shared three items: the crispy chik’n burger, special style crinkle cut fries, and the coconut soft serve based vanilla shake. The sandwich was hands down I kid you not the best “chicken” sandwich I’ve ever had, and we both agree to that. The fries were delicious too, and we took a ton of pictures because they were full of yummy stretchy cheese, perfect for cheese-pull booms. The cheese also tasted exactly like traditional cheddar. The shake was a little too coconutty for my particular taste, but it was still pleasant. Next time I’d like to try the soy soft serve based version. For fast food, I didn’t feel as heavy or guilty after eating than I have after eating at several other vegan fast food spots in New York. This will be a go-to for me every time I’m back home.

Visiting NYC And the Some late night hunger struck and luckily next level was open for us! Delicious burger my wife says it’s the best she’s ever had. Took home to our apartment to enjoy with a movie. Great place!
