Not great - Edit

I tried this place today. Whilst there were lots of vegetarian options, not everything was labelled clearly. I ended up taking a bite of something that could have been either fish or chicken. 🤭

Pros: juices - tasty, but small

very very good! - Edit

I love this place. The staff doesn't speak English but is really nice and they know the difference between vegan and vegetarian. The buffet has awesome food and the price is totally worth it (5,50 riais/kilo); some vegan options and many vegetarian dishes!
In the shop you can buy loads of delicious ecological food. I highly recommend the cakes!

Vegan only incidentally - Edit

The food here is sometimes vegan, mostly not. Nothing is labeled, and when I asked about which were the vegan options, I was told that she didn't know what that meant.

If you have friends eating here, it would be possible to manage a meal. Otherwise, skip this place.

Very good - exceptional variety/ value - Edit

Pick and choose whatever you want. Stick to the plain and simple items so you know what you're eating, but so much variety. Get all your nutrients from multiple kinds of legumes, beans, veggies, Hommus, etc.
Well worth the trip here to get one good square vego meal.
No hassle pick with indifferent staff. Just grab a plate, fill and pay later. They can add the drink (fresh juices super cheap at 6$Real) to your bill at the end.

Nothing Worth Writing Home About - Edit

I can't say this place was worth visiting. We went for lunch one day and I think 7-8 out of 50 things were vegan. They did have a soy chicken but the rest was rice and beans and some salads. One guy barely spoke English which made it very hard, but thank God for him. Otherwise, we found vegan meals as good, if not better, at random places on corners down the street (falafel and hummus, beans and rice, etc.)

great late-night oasis - Edit

The previous poster pretty much says it all. This place is even open late on Sundays, only closing Mondays.

Satisfying buffet with all kinds of soy meats as well as lots of vegetable dishes. Plenty of vegan things. They do also have some meat selections, but are probably 90% veg.

Pros: variety, location, hours!

Cons: has meat, could be even better

Very useful for surviving the evenings in Rio - Edit

This place is a life saver. Most vegetarian restaurants in Rio are closed in the evenings and on Sundays. This place is open till quite late and on Sundays and offers a reasonable spread of totally edible and often tasty options. The variety is better on some days than others and you do need to check with the staff to see which things are vege (and if you are vegan, you will want to learn how to explain that in Portugese as many things do have cheese in them), but usually about half of the buffet is vegetarian and the taste profiles are pretty decent. There are quite a few salad options, things like quinua, brown rice, bean stews, tofu stir-fries, tofu balls in tomato sauce, pastries with various fillings (most of those have some form of cheese in them though), etc. Enough to come away with a full plate that is plenty to fill you up. They even have green juice (try the Popeye) and young coconuts to sip from. The cakes are a bit sweet for our liking but some will appreciate them too no doubt. We always come away feeling energized and good.

If only they were organic it would be better... although they do have a natural foods store next door where they sell organic fruits and vegetables so if you have trouble getting enough raw veges you can always buy them and take them home to devour later, as we do.

The location is brilliant, right in the heart of Ipanema - perfect if you are a tourist and don't want to trek to the city just for some food. We've been back several nights in a row and will probably keep doing so for the remainder of our stay, not because it's wonderful but because it's the best variety you can get easily when you don't speak the language and can't make special requests in conventional restaurants.

For the two of us we end up paying roughly 85~100BR, which is about $50 and that includes drinks. Expensive for other cities but ok for Rio. We're not sure what time they close but it seems to be quite late - probably after 10pm.

Pros: open late and on sundays, easy buffet system, usually tastes pretty good

Cons: not all vege - you need to ask, buffet, so not freshly prepared, they use quite a bit of cheese
