Delicious and Fresh!

My partner and I recently stayed in Pahoa for a week, we were excited to see an all vegan restaurant in the town. I was hesitant at first (as I am about most new places) but we loved it so much we visited the restaurant 3 times in our 7 day stay. The food was amazing and the owners were so down to earth and friendly. Not only were our interactions with the owners very pleasant but while eating I was able to people watch and see that they had great relationships within their community. I can't recommend New Moon Foods enough! Definitely try their nachos, sweet potatoes, and bowls!
*Honestly everything we had a 10!

Pros: Great community relationships!, Fresh produce!, AMAZING food!

healthy, fresh food

heads up, like many places in hawai'i, these people seem to think honey is vegan.

the menu is rotating, but if it's not busy, you can request things that aren't listed. the food is good, and jampacked with nutrients. it's pricey, but the portions are huge and great for sharing. two meals could probably feed four.

parking is very limited and mostly on the side of the road. there's seating inside for about six total.

Pros: delicious, fresh and healthy, generous portions

Cons: limited parking, limited seating, a bit pricey

Raw and fermented foods. Tasty, big portion sizes

I loved the nachos, the portion was huuuuge and filling, and it also looked vibrant and amazing!
I also tried their popular OG waffle sandwich but it was not to my taste, I found it too sour and the cheese/waffle bread sticky and a bit gross; however my husband liked it.
Our friends got the plate and they loved it.
Owners were super nice.
You can park on the street in front of the place or in the parking lot at the natural food store nearby.

Pros: Huge portions

A must if you're in Pahoa!

New Moon is flipping amazing! Pretty much everything on the menu is delicious. You will be happy with anything you order. Everything is homemade and the couple that owns it pours their heart and soul into everything they make. Everything is local and fresh! If you're coming with family and friends, I highly suggest everyone getting something different and sharing. You'll want to do a full tour of the menu.

Big Island Gem

The food is incredibly fresh, flavors are vibrant and unique, and the meals leave you feeling so nourished.
The living nachos and waffle sandwich are our favorite! Everything is made totally from scratch and the menu items change pretty regularly. Don't miss out on Pahoa's new hole in the wall take out spot!

Pros: Organic and local ingredients, Unique options, Friendly staff
