Separate Fryer for Vegan Items!

When we arrived there was on site parking which was nice. All the staff were extremely friendly, and welcoming. The pub is a nice little place. Spacious and accessible. The prices are very good. Free drink coupons at the times we went. Has a separate fryer for the vegan food! Both times we went the pub had a nice atmosphere, appeared to be clean, and smelled good, none of overwhelming stale beer/larger smell.

The food we had;

Jackfruit Wedges - were great, fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The pulled jackfruit had a sweet bbq flavour, which worked really well with the wedges.

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings - are a great starter. This is a dish my partner and I love, and this was done very well. The sauce would be better if it had more acidity to it, like a more traditional buffalo sauce.

Moving Mountains Burger - Cooked pretty good, not pink in the middle, but was still very juicy and tender. The construction of the burger was stable and the ingredients inside were fresh and the bun tasted nice. Serving the meal with a larger or steak knife would be good so if you desire you can cut the burger in half. The coleslaw was crisp, but it is not my thing, as I do not really like sweet chilli sauce. The chips were cooked perfectly, and delicious. I would personally prefer vegan cheese on the burger rather than pulled jackfruit, but that is my preference. Vegan mayonnaise would be an amazing addition! I love mayo with my chips and burgers.

Aubergine Bake - tasted like a pretty good ratatouille. The one we had was cooked perfectly, and the hazelnut crumb topping was delicious. The garlic ciabatta was a perfect accompaniment.

Chocolate and Cherry Cheese Cake - was rich and delicious. There wasn’t much of a cherry flavour, but was still very nice as a chocolate cheesecake. The vegan ice cream was extremely good. Ice cream had a strong vanilla flavour that worked nicely with the cheesecake.

Raspberry Jam Donut Pudding - was okay. Lacked a lot of flavour, and I found it to be rather dry and disappointing.

The first time we went to the pub to try the Marstons Vegan Menu the food was not good. I believe this was due to us being the first people to order any of the vegan dishes. Parts of dishes were late or missed off completely. The general manager got in contact and extended an offer for us to come back as his guests to try the menu again, and to apologise for the previous experience. We were very glad we did as the meal this time was delicious. They seem to have a good grasp of the new menu now.

I would recommend this pub to anyone looking to try the new Marstons Vegan Menu.
