REMOVED: New Hedgehog Bookshop

what a find. Friendly bookshop with little cafe tucked in the corner.
Had an hour to kill whilst waiting for a train yesterday.
All vegan apart from cheese scone option, all homemade, also soup or hummous. All very reasonably priced.
Wish there were more places like this.
Cant wait to be going through Penrith again.

The café is in the corner of a new bookshop and is small but quiet, bright and clean. It now advertises itself as a "sconery", apparently because meat-eaters kept coming in and demanding bacon and eggs. It does do reasonably good cake as well as the scones (also soup, which I haven't tried yet). I recommend the vegan hot chocolate because you get a HUGE mug; it's like a tanker.

In Penrith with a few hours to kill I couldn't believe my luck when we found this place. It's a truly beautiful little bookshop and put me in mind of the "proper" bookshops that made me fall in love with reading. Over a delicious dairy free hot chocolate, matcha and some delectable flapjacks we completed the gorgeous little wooden puzzles on each of the tables and fell a bit more in love with the place every time we spoke to the lady running it (who found a place for us to park our rucksacks whilst we warmed up as well as making lovely food and drinks).
A truly wonderful place to spend some time and money, and worth a visit for the hilarious signage alone!
Do go and support this brilliant indie vegan business, you'll be glad you did.

Delicious hummous sallad and bread! I also bought a chocolate cake and a scone to take away, I got to full by the salad to be able to finish dessert:) The bread was baked at the cafe and tasted good.
