Offers light, raw food and specializes in making coconut kefir yoghurt, which is served as shots, made into cheese, and also in a bread. Everything is gluten-free, soy-free, and non-gmo. Has a small retail area selling products like protein powders, walnut parmesan, and herbs. The owners are knowledgeable about making fermented food. Dec 2017 reported not fully vegan and using dairy yogurt. Open Tue-Sun 11:00am-6:00pm.

Good Food but Incompetent Service - Edit

I took a newly vegan friend to this place on our lunch break on a Wednesday. We got there about 12:10. There was a woman who ordered just before us and the cashier was busy with a "client" on the phone. He excused himself from the juice bar and went to the kitchen to continue his conversation in privacy before serving us. He came back and was still talking to his "client." I finally looked at him and said, "we're ready to order." He told the person on the phone that he had to help some "clients," referring to us.

I ordered the seaweed wrap and my friend ordered the green coffee, soup, and the burger. We told him we were on lunch break and had to be back to our meeting south of town by 1 pm, so I asked him how long it would take. He said it wouldn't take long. I had to repeat my question, "how long?" He said 5 minutes. We were satisfied with his answer and sat down. At 12:38 the woman ahead was just served so I was getting agitated because we still didn't have our food and I got the feeling he said "5 minutes" as a way to placate me. We finally stood up and said, hey - we need to go. So he walked over to the deli case and grabbed a pre-made seaweed wrap and gave it to me. I was like, WTF - we'd been waiting for 20 minutes and you're just now giving me the wrap? He said he wanted to give me a fresh one but the kitchen staff is new/in training. It was soggy but it did taste good (I was really hungry). My friend got her burger to go, ate it in the car, and said it was really good. I will NEVER return. I don't appreciate the lying and the struggle to find parking wasn't fun. Here's a hint - maybe don't train kitchen staff during the noon-1pm lunch rush. I was really annoyed by his lack of sense of urgency. I imagine he was more concerned with getting back to the kitchen to finish smoking his bowl with the kitchen staff (there were two of them back there in addition to this sloth-like cashier) than meeting the needs of his "clients."

Pros: Clean, Good Food

Cons: Slow Service, No Free Parking

chichi 25 Jan 2018 - Hi Dina,
it is quite shocking to hear how uncaring your server has been. This person has been serving and managing several restaurants in our area where he grew up. He is a very passionate vegan and we are truly puzzled by this behavior. We know that you are disappointed but should you give us another try we are happy to invite you and your friend to a free meal.
As you noticed, the food is great and made with amazing ingredients. So please feel free to come by and mention that we offered free meals to you and your friend.
love and light,
The New Earth managment

made from the best stuff on earth - Edit

What was a slogan for Snapple is a reality at New Earth Health Cafe. You get exactly what the menu describes. No bait and switch here. They use the finest ingredients available and the owners are extremely knowledgeable of the health food industry and more than happy to share their knowledge with inquisitive customers. Best raw food meal I have enjoyed to date. A wide selection of drinks to go along with a tasty menu that includes delicious desserts. I recommend the veggie burger. Buy some grain bread to go! Can't wait to go back.

Pros: juices, veggie burger, Bread

Cons: limited seating if busy

Amazing - Edit

This place is amazing. We tried a lot of what was on the menu, and it was all spectacular. Perhaps a little on the expensive side, but a lot of effort goes into making their own vegan cheeses and breads and it is all absolutely worth it. I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often.

No Bang For Your Buck - Edit

My boy friend and I have been here a couple times. The first time we ordered their "burger" which was just a tiny disc of oats and came with a good sized salad. We weren't impressed with their burger but the soup was amazing. The second time we went for lunch wanting the soup. They didn't have any soup available, even the other soups on the menu. So we decided on an open face sandwich each. This came with two tiny thin slices of bread with some spread and two tiny thinly sliced peppers. The salad ,again, was much bigger. Needless to say, $19 later we were still hungry. We're college students so spending that much money on a meal was a big deal for us. So if you have a small appetite but love spending money, this place is the place for you.

Pros: Delicious Soup, Mostly All Raw

Cons: Expensive, Small Portions

Food as Medicine - Edit

I had read about this place on HappyCow and was in town (June 2014), so I went in for a look. Here's my New Earth Health Cafe review.

The space is very relaxed and inviting. The owners are super knowledgeable about food and herbs. To get to the cafe you have to walk up the street away from the main part of downtown, just for a couple minutes.

In the fridge are bottles of coconut kefir drniks alongside prepared vegan & mostly raw meals, including an open-face sandwich with side salad where the bread is infused with coconut kefir as well the raw cheese on top - delicious. We also tried the fresh veggie rolls with salad and that was yummy, too. The acai bowl with berries and house-made sprouted granola was refreshing.

The food all tasted light and nourishing. I would definitely return the next time I'm in San Luis Obispo.

Pros: vibrant, healing, relaxed

Clean and Friendly - Edit

A great new addition to the healthy scene in downtown San Luis Obispo. Not an extensive menu but plenty of juices and smoothies. I had an open-faced sandwich vegetable sandwich with avocado on kaffir bread that was delicious. A daily soup is available and salads are prepped and ready in a stand-up refrigerator case.
There are several tables and a bookcase with a lot of health related information available.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice clean, bright, new atmosphere, Prices are very reasonable
