Best Chinese in Castlebar - Edit
Me and GC have eaten here many times, I unfortunately always get carried away and forget to take pics.
Read moreThis time we got salt & chilli tofu, tofu with black bean sauce, tofu and black pepper sauce and tofu and kung po sauce. You also get either plain chips or boiled rice with each mains so we got two of each.
Unfortunately as with many places in ireland you have to actually call to find out what's vegan, the staff are always nice to deal with but allergens on menus would be great.
We generally just add that we are vegan in the kitchen message part on just eat, although I'd say they know us by now 😂.
The food from here is usually very fresh but can sometimes not have a lot of taste, so it can be very hit and miss but they do give great portions.
The prices are fairly reasonable at this point, it cost about €50 for the four mains plus delivery.

Very bland and watery sauces - Edit
We got the black pepper tofu, tofu with cashew nuts, salt and chilli tofu, and chips and curry.
Read moreThe black pepper tofu and the tofu with cashew nuts were both only okay. They were very watery and fairly tasteless, which is a pity because they used to be delicious. We hadn't eaten from here in just over 2 years though so I wonder if they changed management or chefs during that time.
The salt and chilli tofu was delicious and extremely crispy. It healed my body and soul and gave me an XP boost for my next 3 quests.
The chips and curry was also delicious. It was spicier than I expected, so I would not recommend it if you don't like spicy food.
I would eat from here again, especially as all of the food I mentioned plus 2 drinks and delivery was around €45, so the prices are quite good, I just wish the tofu dishes had more flavorful sauces.
Food was delivered quickly, but despite specifying no prawn crackers we were still given them (the delivery driver was happy to take them back though).
Edit: I have now also tried the tofu in black bean sauce, tofu in Kung po sauce, and their onion rings. The onion rings are only okay, they seemed overcooked and tough. The tofu in black bean sauce was delicious and full of flavour. The tofu in Kung po sauce was also delicious, I had never had Kung po sauce before but it's kind of like a spicy sweet and sour. I would definitely eat those dishes again.
