DELICIOUS food, super nice owner

This little two story restaurant in the center of downtown Yangon was just what we were looking for after walking the hot and humid streets of the city. I am vegan and thoroughly enjoyed the soy milk masala tea and the thali set. They kept refilling the dishes for free, and we got another round of the chapati for a little extra kyat. Every thing was vegan, which was assured over and over by the English speaking owner. She was so sweet and we could tell she was busy but she made it a point to talk to us and make us feel comfortable in her restaurant.

The thali set consisted of rice, 2 chapatis, veg curry, Dahl, Chana masala (chickpea curry) and a jackfruit (looks like pork) veg curry which was 2,300 kyat. We got this, the soy milk tea, a large water and extra chapati for a total of 4,000 kyat. GREAT DEAL!

The only complaint I have is that the dishes weren't hot. They were all cold or luke warm, but that didn't stop us from having seconds (or thirds).

Would definitely definitely would recommend this to any vegan, veg or Indian food loving foodie! Thank you for the delicious food!

Just Amazing

Dita was amazing. She helped us decide what to get and I have to say, it was one of the most satisfying meals I've ever had during my travels. Very cheap, but the quality of vegan food is just to die for. It's our last day in Yangon and we're going back today for lunch!

Pros: Taste, Friendliness, Hole-in-the-wall atmosphere

Cons: None

Super good, super cheap and such a lovely stuff.
AND the Masala tea -for all milkdrinkers- is selfmade and soooo good!!

Pros: Cheap, Tasty, A lot

Top notch flavoring

This place is located in a busy street in Yangon. Small and simple menu with indian dishes, can't say its the healthiest cuisine, but without a doubt, the flavors are just wonderful, taking you straight to India.
Would most definetely come back!

good food, good price, nice service

they are moving in Mid-June to another location nearby on 29th and Merchant road. This is a cozy little place with a personal touch. Gita, the owner, serves up a delicious thali set with free curry refill for 2,000kyats. the pakora and masala tea are also good.

Best of Yangon

I ate many times at this small and simple restaurant. It was by far the best vegetarian restaurant I have been in Yangon.

There are some big ones, with larger menus, but that doesn't mean better.
The host is really charming, asking every time you choose a dish with dairy if you are vegan.

Pros: simple but very good food, nice owner, very cheap

Very nice owner and delicious food!

This place is perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is really good, can be spicy or no spicy (like really no spicy if you specify), and it's inexpensive (for a restaurant - it's not street food).
It's really vegan (and the owner knows what vegan means), except for some vegetarian dishes, so just ask for vegan if you don't want dairy products.
The place is quiet small (but wasn't crowed when we went), and there isn't a beautiful view - it's like a small normal restaurant in a burmese street, but it's vegan!

Pros: delicious, nice owner, good english spoken

The Tastiest Food in Yangon!

We returned to this friendly little place on 3 occoasions and each time we left feeling very full and satisfied, as well as highly impressed with the delicious food the lovely Geeta produces.

The prices are incredibly reasonable and you can enjoy a quality and fulfilling meal on a backpackers budget.

Even if you have friends that eat meat, the food here topped anything else that we ate in Yangon and we encourage people of all diet types to sample some of the delights on offer here.

Our particular favourite was the daal paratha with tamarind dip. Not to mention the masala tea with ginger, made with soya milk to suit a vegan diet! Everything we ordered was delightful!

This small place is not to be missed, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled when walking down lower 29th street as you could easily pass by without realising. There are signs outside so you shouldn't have too much trouble!

We will certainly be returning if we find ourselves back in Yangon!

Pros: Delicious food, Suits all budgets, A very welcoming host

excellent vegan food in the centre of Yangon

This is a great new, friendly vegan place a short walk from Sule Pagoda and the downtown area, slightly closer to the Merchant Road end of 29th Street.

Opening hours are from 07:30 to 20:00, every day.

I stumbled upon this spot quite by chance: there are two bright yellow banners outside with menus that invited me into a quiet and clean little seating area.

The owner, Geeta, is an English-speaking Burmese lady with Nepali origins who also lived in Bangkok for many years; she is really eager to make fresh, tasty, wonderful food. There is a fixed menu, but many of the curries change every day. If the restaurant is not busy, the owner will sometimes sit and chat and also offers free refills of dahls, curries and rice if you need.

I was really impressed that the owner was so committed to keeping her restaurant as completely vegan as possible, absolutely no eggs or butter, meat, cheese or fish in the food. The only two concessions here are milk in the ginger masala tea and yoghurt in the lassi (vegans please note!) The owner is also aware of vegetarian/vegan diet and keen to promote a healthy menu.

I have been there several times over three days, including breakfast. Each time, the food has been very tasty and prepared to order (the curries are obviously made earlier, but the rotis, dosas, puris etc are all light, hot and fresh). For the breakfast dosa (or dosai as it's called here) there are actually TWO dosai served, which is great value and helps set you up for the day

Regarding breakfast, I used to wander through the streets about 08:00, while the city was slowly getting busy, stop here to have some breakfast and hot tea, and then was ready to do some exploring and sightseeing.

There is no alcohol served here, but plenty of drink options - I think a fresh lime juice or something would be just right here, especially for people who don't like fizzy drinks. Again, vegans please note: there is yoghurt based lassi and milk based tea served here, but apart from this the entire food menu is entirely vegan - a really rare find in Yangon and Myanmar, especially for those of us who do not like fake meat style food.

I am so glad to have found such a lovely little place in Yangon, with excellent vegan food available throughout the day, it is thoroughly recommended and I will miss it when I leave Yangon.

Pros: fresh and tasty food, location downtown, friendly, inexpensive,
