While its menu is primarily meat-based, it also serves a good amount of vegetarian dishes like vegetarian crispy duck, veg lamb, veg chicken, veg beef, veg shrimp, dim sum, and some vegetable dishes. All the mock meat!

I live in York where none of the Chinese places do mock meats, so I'm a real sucker for places that do. I ordered a fake lamb noodle dish and my partner had the fake shredded beef. I found my noodle dish a bit dry and needing some sauce but the shredded beef was amazing. In hindsight I should have ordered a shredded beef (or anything saucy) with my noodles as well but since it was a noodle dish priced like a main I thought it would work on its own. So I don't really recommend the noodle dishes on their own but go for the saucy dishes!

Pros: fake shredded beef dish, outside seating with view of Windsor castle

Cons: fake lamb noodles were a bit dry

mediocre at best, poor service

My husband and I came here for lunch after touring Windsor Castle. We ordered the crispy (mock) duck as an appetizer. It was pretty good. For entrées, I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and he ordered the Szechuan pork. What we got were the sweet and sour pork and the Szechuan duck, after an inordinate wait. What annoyed us was that our waitress scribbled the order on her hand, while writing other guests' orders on an actual notepad. We were so hungry after the tour and the long wait, though, that we decided not to send the food back. We ate the food, which was just ok. The Szechuan dish wasn't really Szechuan, but just a salty cornstarch mess. It's nice to have mock meat options, but we were not thrilled with this restaurant. Bathroom was also very dirty. If you're not from the UK and decide to go to this restaurant, don't forget that rice is a separate charge.

Great veg options

I've eaten here a couple times. Chinese food isn't my favourite, but they have a full veggie menu offering several dishes. Mock meat does feature heavily, which I like sometimes but may not be to everyone's liking!
If you're a veggie in town this is a perfect stop for lunch or dinner.

Great for mock meat fans

I'm quite lucky in that this is my local Chinese takeaway.

As mentioned, they do quite a lot of mock meat dishes (including shrimp), and a mock duck with pancakes/cucumber etc. I really enjoy the duck, and have had both the beef and chicken chow mein, the shrimp, and a lamb dish (I'm afraid I don't remember which one). All were great although I personally find the mock shrimp takes a little getting used to!

The variety of mock meats may not be as extensive as places in Asia & the US, but for the UK it's really good, and it's awesome to be able to have a 'fat day' and grab a takeaway worry free!

They are Chinese (the owners/staff) so be sure when ordering that you require the vegetarian version of a dish, as it can be hard to tell afterwards (no bad thing)!

Highly recommend.

Cons: None, just be clear when ordering.

Really good!

Chinese restaurants normally have a few dishes to support vegetarians, but this place goes that bit further. With a full vegetarian menu with veggie pork, beef and even prawns, this place makes it very easy to enjoy traditional Chinese food without the meat.

Make sure to ask for the vegetarian menu, though, since it's not part of the main one. I'm sure there's something in their selection for you!

Pros: Selection, Food quality, Authenticity

Cons: English comprehension (speak clearly!)
