Best vegan breakfast spot in S.M.A. - Edit
San Miguel was a little challenging for vegans, so this place was an oasis. We ended up having breakfast there 4 days in a row -- they will serve some things off their lunch menu if you ask, so check that out as well. We particularly liked the "meatball" sandwich, which is lentil-based. Many of the dishes incorporate flavored teas as an ingredient.
There seems to be a little confusion with staff between gluten-free and vegan, so do ask if something seems like it should be vegan but isn't labeled so. It's all garden seating, so if you're are there during the rainy season you may have to get stuff to go.
Staff spoke English well enough to make everything easy.
Pros: Great garden seating, Just a few blocks from the town center, Inventive dishes
Cons: Some gluten/vegan options are lost in translation, Not open for dinner, Little seating in bad weather

Sophisticated and Delicious - Edit
The garden patio setting complete with a hummingbird joining us while we were eating made the entire experience very enjoyable. My daughter and I had the vegan lasagna and it was delicious. It had both depth of taste and texture and reminded me of a roasted vegetable ratatouille with a light but "creamy" sauce. We would definitely eat there again on another trip.
Pros: Friendly staff fluent in multiple languages, Delicious vegan food, Wonderful garden patio setting

A LIttle Bit of Heaven - Edit
This restaurant serves some of the most delicious vegan food I have ever tasted and I am 71 years old! I did a complete write up on the restaurant so please read that as I don't really want to repeat everything! The food is lovingly prepared, very sophisticated - they use a lot of tea infusions in their sauces. The service is attentive and friendly. The dishes and serving pieces absolutely beautiful. And all of this is a courtyard garden setting.
Pros: Delicious beautiful prepared food, over 35 vegan o, Tranquil lovely garden setting, Friendly knowledgeable staff
Cons: Serve tuna and salmon but even those dishes can be, No other cons what-so-ever

Delicious food in a tranquil oasis - Edit
I love this place and went twice on my recent trip to San Miguel de Allende. Set in a peaceful courtyard with hummingbirds hovering overhead, this cafe is a real gem and you should definitely visit. Although not 100% vegan, there are many vegan dishes marked on the menu and everything we ordered was delicious and had obviously had a lot of thought and passion put into it.
Pros: Delicious food, Beautiful setting, Central location
Cons: Not open in the evenings

vegan soup sampler and hummingbirds - Edit
What a delight to find this quiet courtyard restaurant with so many interesting vegan options, many infused delicately with teas. The soup sampler was quite good and just right for a midday snack. And it warmed our hearts as well that they provide nectar for hummingbirds, which came to feed within3 feet of us. In general the bird life is sparse in the area, so this oasis is a blessing. We will go again this week to try other dishes.

Magical - Edit
Nectar is a magical spot in a magical town. Tucked away near the eastern border of the Centro district, it is well worth the visit. Small tables set up in the courtyard of the tasteful gift shop are surrounded by vegetation and hummingbird feeders! You are treated to hummingbirds flitting in and out to sample their own snacks! The manager takes great pride in their offerings, and well he should. Perhaps not as elaborate as a Japanese Tea Ceremony, you can tell that special care is taken in the preparation of not only the teas, but the delicious light fare. The vegan pate were served with delicate breadsticks and crackers. All food items have a tea element. The artichoke/mint pate was my favorite, served in tiny glass pate jars. The blueberry infused tea was served with not sugar for sweetener, but the simple syrup nectar they offer the hummingbirds. If it didn't serve fish it would have 5 stars hands down. Magical.
Pros: Magical atmosphere, Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Excellent food
Cons: No dinner, Does serve fish
