Best Ethiopian food with lots of amazing vegan options - Edit
I have been coming to this restaurant for 17+ years (since it was Ras Dashen). Now under the ownership of Maritu, the founding chef's daughter, it continues to be my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the world out of the dozens I have eaten at in many different countries. The flavors are deep, complex, and varied and there are lots of hearty vegan options among the entrees and the sides. You can even order a vegan version of the delicious appetizer Qategna - just ask them to use oil instead of butter. This is a can't-miss destination restaurant if you are vegan and in Chicago!

Ethiopian Vegan Options! - Edit
Nebeb (named after the new owner’s grandmother) is the new iteration of Ras Dashen (same location). The daughter of the former owner now runs the restaurant. Same recipes. Same nice people. The big improvement is that vegan options in the Entrees section are now clearly labeled! Yay! Makes ordering easier. Each entree comes with two sides. Only one is clearly labeled vegan, but most others can be made vegan / no butter. Yum! This is my favorite non-vegan restaurant in the city.
