Remember Veggie Castle, the amazing ital/vegan place in an old White Castle on Church Avenue between Flatbush and Bedford? That was one of my favorite restaurants in the world, and we all mourned when it closed in 2007. By the end of VC’s run, there were two other ital/vegan spots on the block, the hole-in-the wall beside VC (which, truth be told, was actually even better) and the place across the street. Natural Blend is the place across the street. Well, it’s actually a successor to the place across the street. And it’s good. Very good. But it’s no Veggie Castle.
Read moreEverything is vegan, except for a few fish dishes that are clearly marked. All of the dinners come with cabbage/veggies and rice & peas, though you can substitute for lo mein or mac & cheese the rice & peas for a dollar more. The large size is LARGE (enough for two meals unless you’re really hungry), which almost makes it worth the $19 (!) price. Almost. The pepper steak is tasty and quite spicy. I love spicy food and rarely meet a dish that is too much for me. This was delightfully close. The jerk chicken is a bit sweet and not at all spicy. Good, but no kick to it. The ital stew is delicious, a superb mix of flavors.
The patties are good, but by no means great. The callaloo and the lentil pea are my faves.
The staff is super friendly and the vibe is chill.
Definitely worth a visit.
Pros: Nice selection , Almost everything is vegan, Friendly staff
Cons: The parties are good but not great, A bit expensive , It’s no Veggie Castle :-(

Been eating here for awhile now and love it. All the Pattie’s, the citrus ribs, the sea moss smoothie…all incredible. And the desserts.

Natural blend has a ton of vegan options. They have vegan jamaican patties, vegan meals (including delicious jerk chicken), muffins/breads. Coffee is great with non dairy creamer options. Juice and smoothies are available as well. Staff is friendly.

Really great smoothies and juices. Everything from the bakery was great. I loved the ginger muffin. I actually discovered this place from their location up in Prospect Heights on Malcom X Blvd
