We discovered this nice vegan restaurant in Budapest, very friendly staff and good choice of food. The soup was so tasty, highly recommended.

We missed various and green vegetables at the menu. There is a salad buffet but only cold salad.
And for me there was too much fried stuff.
Furthermore I ordered a dish from the menu explicit without Seitan but was I got was Seitan.
Apart from this, good place for eating vegan food.

Napfényes has played an important role for veganism in Hungary as one of the pioneer restaurants, therefore I always wanted to come here to check it out. I went with my friends for a celebration and the dishes we tried were all delicious.
Read moreFirst I had the babgulyás, which was rich and flavourful. Although I haven’t eaten the original version for a long time now, I can tell it’s very well made and similar. For the main, I ate the fried seitan with steak fries, which were both great.
For dessert, I asked for a somlói galuska. It was so so good, I wanted to ask for a second plate! The sponge cake was moist and creamy, not too sweet which I appreciated. My only criticism is that the walnut pieces were quite bad quality, since it had the skin on which made it rather dry. No issues with nuthsell, however.
Overall, I’m very happy with the food I had and would recommend this place to anyone!

I am very sorry to have to report a negative experience with this restaurant. We have been ordering a weekly menu from them for a year now because of the low price, but the quality is terrible. The vegetables are often half-raw, and the seasoning of the food is almost completely absent, except for the anise flavor, which is in pieces in the food and you have to pick it out while eating, which is quite unpleasant.
Read moreFurthermore, it is also noticeable that the weekly menu apparently remains unchanged, as if it were just copy-pasted every week. And the names of the dishes do not always cover the same recipe, so it is unpredictable what the ordered dish will be.
Overall, I would say that what I experienced at Napfenyes does not meet my expectations, and I hope that the management of the restaurant will take these feedbacks into account in order to improve.
Pros: can order the weekly menu ahead of time, cheap
Cons: unpleasant taste, macros are not considered, not nutritional

The restaurant is perfect for a high-protein meal. The main platter is full of meat, cheese etc. substitutes (seitan, tofu etc.). Everything was very good and filling. I had a raspberry/cream/chocolate cake and it was also tasty.

A little off the main strip, we sat outside in a quiet shady street for some food. I ordered the Gyros which was plentiful and very tasty. My partner had a cake which he enjoyed. It was nice and quiet outside and we popped in to pay and noted that the inside was bright, airy and clean.

Absolutely NOT worth the hype - Edit
Went here expecting a nice flavourful goulasch since the reviews were great. Was super disappointed when the soup came out served in a bucket (?), and it was flavorless and very watery, and had some weird mushy dough. Not even bread was included. Also got the "lemonade" which was a clear yellow liquid, made like a cordial concentrate. I looked at other people's food in the restaurant and not one dish looked appetizing either. Don't go here!! Save your money for better food.

I've eaten here several times and I've never been disappointed. The food is great, but the cakes are also very tasty, perfectly made. I missed the taste and texture of Dobos cake since I became vegan, and it was so good to eat it again.

I was so excited and happy to find this restaurant while visiting Budapest. My husband and I started off with the Hungarian Bean Goulash Soup and oh boy was that good!! I ordered the gyro platter and my husband ordered the Seitan Roast à la Brasov. We also ordered a side of fried Seitan. All of these were amazing. We had a delicious dessert made with chocolate and raspberry that was suggested by our server and it didn’t disappoint! Don’t miss this restaurant if you’re visiting Budapest!!

The restaurant itself it quite tucked away but I sat outside under the trees and it was a very lovely peaceful evening. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing as everything is vegan. Also there were so many desserts to choose from it was crazy! I tried the Sachertorte cake but wasn’t a fan.
