Great Small Vegan Joint - Edit
I’m currently on a trip in Montreal with my girlfriend who has Celiac’s, and we were looking for a solid vegan place to get lunch. We came across Nabati Bistro, and decided to give it a go.
Read moreThe serviceperson was very friendly and accommodating, and was also fluent in English. They seemed to be the only person in the restaurant, which seemed odd, but there wasn’t too long of a wait, so it didn’t impact our experience. Still, it would’ve been nice to have a cook and serviceperson, but that’s nitpicking.
In total, we ordered a side of fries, Pad Thai, a Sloppy Burger, and two slices of their cheesecake-style raw cakes, one Double Chocolate and one Peppermint Chocolate.
The fries were crispy and well salted, so no complaints there.
My Sloppy Burger came with sweet potato fries and a small salad. The salad had vinegar, oil, and salt, and was well made and balanced. The fries were perfectly tasty and I have no complaints there. The Sloppy Burger, however, was a bit too sweet. It seemed like they wanted a balance of sweetness and savoriness, like in BBQ sauce, but it was just a tad too sweet, and not as flavorful as it could’ve been. All in all, it was a fine burger — not crazy good, but not crazy bad either.
My girlfriend had the Pad Thai, which was good, but the tofu seemed a bit overcooked. It was well spiced besides the tofu.
The cakes were...okay. The peppermint chocolate cake was good, it was well balanced and tasty. Maybe the chocolate flavor could be stronger, but besides that it was quite good. The double chocolate cake was just okay, as the chocolate flavor was very weak, and the crust was very coconut-y. I would suggest redoing the crust in a chocolate base, as the crust is about 33% of the cake, and to add more chocolate and sweetness to the top-most cream layer of the cake, as it was a bit bitter and not very flavorful.
The prices were great though, as all in all, we got two entrees, a side, and two desserts and spent just under $40 USD including tip.
Oh, and one last thing: the lemon water was *way* too strong for me and my girlfriend. It tasted like lemonade without the sugar. Some might enjoy it that way, but it was a bit much for us.
TL;DR, it’s a great little spot, but the food can be hit or miss. Besides that, I’d definitely recommend it.
Pros: The menu has great variety, Everything is gluten-free, Fantastic service
Cons: Food is hit-or-miss, Lemon water was a bit strong when I went

One of the worst meals I've had at a restaurant - Edit
Three of us ordered meals. The photos looked good, the descriptions seemed interesting. Two of us ordered the beyond meat burger, the bun was odd, the fries were soggy and somehow the salad was incredibly salty... We're not sure how it was possible to screw up a meal like that. There was also tons of packaging.
Read moreI ordered the jackfruit poutine. It was literally pieces of jackfruit on soggy fries drenched in some sort of vinegar sauce. I don't really think anyone would qualify it as poutine.
We also ordered cakes, the double chocolate just tasted like coconut. The pistachio lemon was pretty good.
We were really quite disappointed considering the price. We would have been better off with other similarly expensive places in the area.

Best pad Thai - Edit
Nice little restaurant that serves vegan and gluten free. Very friendly owner. The menu expanded since last time I came. Breakfast, meals including a really delicious Pad Thai, Beyond Meat Burger, Beyond Sausages, Texas Poutine, Chickpea Curry, sloppy burger, tacos, smoothies, raw cakes and coffees. Portion was perfect and the prices are good. Pad Thai is 8,99$! You don’t see prices like that anymore, especially not vegan. Great choice of cakes, tiramisu, Nanaimo bars, « cheesecake » etc, but we found that the coconut taste was too present. The worker was alone when we went which meant slower service.

Tried their sloppy poutine and sloppy burgers. Both contained jackfruit which was delicious. The poutine could use some cheeze.

Delicious food at a very good price - Edit
It doesn’t seem like much when you see it from outside but the food is a wonderful surprise... Everything was fresh, unpretentious and sooo tasty!! You could tell that the cook when you order although the service is fast and very amicable... The deserts make you want to cry out of joy!! I even closed my eyes while enjoying my Dark Forest raw cake. I recommend it for sure!

Nice little place to discover - Edit
I have visited several times and tried something different each time. These were the dishes in order of preference:
Read more-Falafel plate
-Scrambled tofu
-Waffles
Smaller restaurant which is clean and fresh-looking with a menu that seems fitting for its size. Sweet and savory options available. Portions seem just right and leave you feeling satisfied but not heavy. Quieter which is nice but seating could easily be limited if popularity increases.
The staff is kind and I appreciate their focus in trying to offer a menu that is both vegan and gluten-free.
If I could make a few sugestions/offer some feedback, one would be to have more than one person present at a time. I understand it might not make financial sense to have two or more employees when it is less busy, but it can have an impact on wait time and put pressure on the one person there.
It would also be great if the menu at the restaurant could be a bit more detailed in terms of ingredients and what is included (as the one online seems to be).
I also feel like the amount of flavoring could be reduced a bit (details below) but this is of course very subjective.
I enjoyed the falafel (and I am not a big falafel person) and hummus - fresh and nice flavor.
The scrambled tofu was tasty and colorful but after a while, felt a bit overwhelming (someone I know who tried it felt similarly - that the flavor was good but a little too strong after a while, as though he could have had half the portion and a taste of something else).
The waffle with the fruits and chocolate (and agave?) was a little too sweet for me personally. The smoothies were okay and a little thinner than expected. One didn't seem as blended as it could be.
They are known for their desserts which are worth a try and their specialty coffee drinks are nice as well. It would be great if a regular coffee option could be added to the menu for those who prefer just a simple cup of joe.
One of the first places in the area to offer the Beyond Burger, which is a nice option for someone looking for that meaty favor.
This is a nice little place with lots of potential and I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it to others.
Pros: Vegan and gluten-free, Kind staff, Delivery option
Cons: Menu online is more detailed than in restaurant, Low staff, which can affect wait time

Tasty raw vegan goodies in the middle of nowhere VSL - Edit
This place is hidden in a sad little strip mall across from Tim Horton's and Esposito's. Came in late so missed out on the savory items, but raw desserts (and distribution of these) is really more their thing. Instead, had a green smoothie (delicious) and a slice of the peanut butter and caramel cake (yummy and almost overly sweet). Service was great and friendly, the space is pleasant (art available for purchase on display), wifi available. Prices were good and the worker kindly gave me 15% off because it was my first time. Recommended.
