Nah

The "pancake" (which is more like a crêpe) had neither flavour, nor was the consistency good. That's probably because the vegan pancake dough is also gluten free. I have eaten good gluten free things before and I have had plenty of FANTASTIC vegan crêpes. But this place just sucked and I wouldn't recommend it, unless you're a gluten free vegan I guess.
My friend had a regular non vegan pancake and said its really good. It looked much better than mine too. Didnt help that they didnt properly melt the vegan cheese either.

This place is also pricey for what it is. I remember them selling fresh orange juice for £5.50.

A nice change

A nice change of eatery. An okay selection of vegan options, especially with the sweet dishes. Savoury option included salami and chorizo. For once the vegan cheese was nice too

Pros: Staff - friendly and helpful , Sweet and savoury options

Cons: No decaf coffee

Plenty of vegan options

The restaurant itself is really cute, the staff are helpful and nice, and there are loads of options. I had a vegan volcano, it had fresh ingredients, but I do agree with the other reviews that it’s just a little lacklustre.

Amazing pancakes

So tasty and great vibes! I recommend going on Monday, and veganizing a non vegan pancake to get the discount!

Vegan options but...

This restaurant does have vegan options and that is why we went in... Unfortunately the pancakes were really not good : looked like crepes and were thick and tasteless... Tasted a bit like rubber... Toppings were OK but what is the point if the pancake is not good? Wouldn't recommend. Lots of interesting options in London.

Nice to have a vegan option - it was fine

The vegan options are limited and not as exciting as the rest of the menu. I went for the sweet pancake which was fine but I wouldn't particularly recommend. We also sat downstairs which has no atmosphere so if you can sit upstairs.

My Old Dutch

High five to My Old Dutch for offering vegan options including vegan pancakes, vegan cheese, and vegan ice cream (but why no vegan butter for the pancakes?).

I would recommend that they reconsider their recipe for the vegan pancakes. They were so bad (thick, flavorless, and dry) that I couldn't eat more than three bites. I only ate the fruit I ordered that was on top of the pancakes. I found it interesting that they didn't ask if anything was wrong with the pancakes after they saw I didn't really touch them, but maybe they don't care that they're making gross pancakes (I actually cannot believe people eat these). My dining partner ordered the non-vegan pancake and, while they didn't think their pancake was as bad as mine, they were underwhelmed by their order too. Can't say I'd recommend this place.

Nice, but overpriced

My old Dutch is somewhere I used to visit when I was a pre-vegan child and I was very pleased to find that the savoury pancake tasted exactly as I remember it.
I ordered a plain 9” base with courgettes, sundried tomatoes, and artichokes. It was certainly nice, but I regretted choosing two oily vegetables and the courgette in particular was sparse for the price.
I had a banana maple 9” for dessert and again the banana was very sparse for the price (they must have only used half a banana!). Two 9”s were more than enough for 1 person, so I’m glad I didn’t attempt a 15”.
Having said all that, it’s great that they have a vegan menu and I hope it’ll continue to expand.

Cozy

Cozy restaurant. Pancakes can be made vegan and the menu also already has a few vegan options. Vegan milkshake too.

Nice service, nice pancakes!

Careful! Their pancakes are huge and delicious. All of the pancakes can be vegan-based and non-vegan toppings can be exchanged for vegan alternatives. I found mine to be a bit too greasy.

Pros: Veganisable

Cons: Might be too huge

Lovely

I loved this place! I wasn’t expecting much but the food surprised me. I had the vegan volcano and found it delicious. The cheese was melted, the chorizo was flavourful, the pancake itself was packed with corn, and the spinach added a crunch. I also added artichokes. I also had a vegan chocolate and coconut milkshake, which was really good. The only con is that I asked them for no straw and they still brought one. Aside from the two set vegan options, you can customise your own pancake starting from a price of 5.95 pounds. They have a lot of sweet options such as fruit, ice cream, maple syrup, and even a vegan probiotic lavender honey. As for savoury, you can choose from vegan cheese, chorizo, many vegetables (mushrooms, olives, artichokes, sundried tomatoes, etc.) as well as guacamole and hummus. The portions are huge too and the pancakes could easily be two meals. Highly recommend!

Pros: Batter is also gluten free , Large portions , Delicious

Cons: Plastic straws , a little pricey

Falling flat

The vegan menu at this popular chain is a welcome initiative but needs more effort to compete with the increasingly high quality on offer in central London.

There's little volcanic about the vegan (also GF) volcano. It came as a somewhat anaemic spongy pancake with tasty roasted corn mixed through the batter. The vegan chorizo was good but while vegan cheese can be harder to melt no effort was made on this front such as folding the pancake as per some others on the menu. It was big enough to share - at least 12" - but felt overpriced at £14.95. Dessert pancakes are available but we decided to forego these based on the savoury course.

Staff confirmed the chips are fried with the bacon so unfortunately are unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans (to be fair the menu doesn't mark them as such). Hopefully this large premises can work on a separate fryer.

While no doubt easier on the staff's arms, plastic plates and glasses (thankfully not single-use) make for a cheaper-feeling experience with food quickly going cold. The berry smoothie was good but it's disappointing that the business is still using plastic straws.

Service was friendly but hard to attract, to the point of customers getting up to grab sauces, cutlery etc. for themselves. Food was quick to arrive once ordered.

Pros: Cheery floral dining room
