Amazingly tasty Burmese Food - Edit
Really fresh ingredients, incredibly flavorful sauces and a nice atmosphere here. Have been 5-6 times now and I seem to always get the same thing (Burmese Mix Vegetables Curry) because it is soooo tasty. Will have to try some other dishes next time but this particular dish is very highly recommended. Ask for the Hot Chili Oil if you like your food spicy. Service is great, always enjoy coming here. Fantastic!

Yes This Was Delicious - Edit
A nice sit down experience? Solid vegan options? Tasty? Leaving satisfied? Great staff? Yeah they did a great job. Some tasty food! Highly recommend, just be aware it’s a more formal place, so I’d maybe save it for a cute date night

We had a lovely lunch here. We started with samosas, and added a mango salad, tofu with vegetables, lemongrass tofu and eggplant in garlic sauce. all were good. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Delicious high quality food! - Edit
My partner and I had a wonderful dinner here. I would have rated this restaurant five stars but I can’t because it’s not a vegan restaurant. We had the fried yellow burmese tofu, mango salad, spicy tofu with vegetables, a coconut rice, and a non-alcoholic watermelon cocktail. Everything was perfect and so tasty. Service was wonderful too!

Healthy tea leaf salad - Edit
Tea leaf salad was best, followed by coconut rice. Not a good ratio of noodles to tofu/veggies on the pad Thai (not enough of latter). Fiery tofu with veggies was good. Ended up being kind of pricey.

Burmese, yes please 🙏 - Edit
My first time eating Burmese food and I’m wowed! I would have given this place 5 stars, but they serve animals, so that is an automatic 4 for me. We had tea leaf salad, dry curried tofu and coconut rice. This place has a HUGE vegan/vegan friendly menu and they were even willing to accommodate my request for no oil. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Samusas squared - Edit
There are samusa appetizers; samusa salad; and samusa soup. My waiter advised that I try the salad if I’d never had it before. Then he added the sauce that usually only comes with the appetizer. It was a flavor texture and flavor festival.

Awesome samusas! - Edit
They have outdoor seating with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The samusas were huge and delicious and came with a really nice sauce. Phad Thai and lemongrass tofu are delicious! The mango tofu had tasty large mango slices and a sauce that was ok, but the tofu didn't really have a flavor. I ordered coconut rice to go with it and I couldn't stop eating it - it has such a lovely flavor.

Popping Flavor - Edit
So grateful for a new restaurant offering fresh flavors for vegans. Because I started with the tea leaf salad, I haven't tried anything else on repeat visits. Its just so good! The textures for this dish are great and complimentary. Fresh crunchy cabbage, fried crispy garlic, smooth tea leaf pesto, a pop of jalapeno and all kinds of other additions that add flavor and texture. Yum!

Will be back to try more of the menu, if I can wean myself off that tea leaf salad.
Pros: Unique tea leaf salad dish, Several vegan options, Easy parking in big lot behind restaurant

was disappointed in the flavors - Edit
I was excited to try this semi-upscale restaurant in Davis. I remember going to Burma Superstar in SF and LOVING it!
Read moreUnfortunately, I didn't find the dishes that I ordered very good. The samusas came with a tomato sauce that tasted like well, tomato sauce. I didn't think it paired well with the little, fried veggie curry pockets. The tea leaf salad was highly recommended by the server, so I ordered it, but was immediately turned off by the intensity of the garlic (and I am a HUGE garlic fan). I didn't think the flavors of the salad mixed well together. It had way too much garlic and was missing some other dynamic flavors that I couldn't put my finger on, it was just 'off'. I really dislike wasting food, and I was really hungry when I arrived, but there was no way I could make myself finish that salad.
I had an elderberry cocktail that was okay, nothing exciting or unique about it.
The last point that turned me off was that the server was really into eating meat and she was describing all her favorite meat dishes like "the lamb is soooo delicious, it's my favorite". Which is normal for this world, but it left me thinking about how the restaraunt pays people to take the baby sheep away from their mothers, raise them in terrible conditions, and eventually kill them. It was such an in-your-face comment that I wasn't able to ignore the facts and I was left feeling sad for supporting them.
Edit:
I went back for a second try (!!) and was equally disappointed in the bland, and frankly kind of weird flavor combinations. This time i tried different entreés too. We had mango tofu, vegetable curry, and some kind of needles. The noodles were the best, by far. The tofu itself was pretty good (nicely marinated and firm), but together with the mango pureé, it just didn't work right in my mouth.

Upscale Experience with Lots of Options - Edit
I wanted to have a business casual, sit-down meal to celebrate a life event, but Davis doesn't have a whole lot of upscale options for vegans/vegetarians. We had a lovely evening at Burma Eat. The staff took excellent care of us, there were lots of vegan options on the menu, and the owner came out to talk to us after our meal to ask us how it went. Worth every penny.
