More vegan friendly than it first seems - Edit
The menu is an old fashioned vegetarian one that reluctantly mentions vegan options, however since the bacon, sausages and pesto are vegan, and the have the local Sheese, almost everything can be ordered as vegan, plus choice of 2 cakes. Service was good, prices/portions decent too.

Tasty vegan options in a friendly central café - Edit
Musicker is a lovely quiet spot in the centre of town, with friendly staff who know about veganism and are happy to help. They stock oat and soy milk, as well as Isle of Bute’s own Sheese vegan cheese, and even do vegan sausages and bacon. Vegan options are noted on the menu, but not always clearly labelled, so it’s worth asking. The vegan pesto is a bonus. We tried the vegan cheese, chargrilled peppers, and pesto panini with the broccoli soup of the day, and both were absolutely delicious.

Lovely cute veg place - Edit
Nice veg place, we got two soups of the day which was cauliflower and two paninis. One of them was sourdough with hummus, olives and pesto. The other one was normal bread with cheese and red onion. The food was really tasty and the service was also really good! We'd definitely come back if visiting the island again! Also vegan options

Simply the Best - Edit
We've been coming to Musicker for years now, every time we visit the Isle of Bute. Through different owners, it's stayed effectively the same.
Read moreThere are sandwiches, panini's (and for vegetarians, croissants which can be filled), and a variety of vegan fillings.
Fillings include haggis, cheese, cranberry, sausage, hummus, pesto, bacon, and many more, which you can put together into any combination you want. Our go-to is Haggis, vegan cheese and Chilli Jam on a sourdough panini.
To top it off, there are always a good selection of vegan cakes, which rotates. On this visit, we had a vegan chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake, and an apple and cranberry tart. Both were delicious.
The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly, this is the best vegan and vegetarian food on the island.

Only sandwiches and soup for vegans - Edit
Was really happy to find a veggie cafe on the Isle of Bute but the menu was very limiting for vegans.

Lovely lunch and cake - Edit
Staff were knowledgeable about veganism and were able to advise what was vegan. I had hummus olive and pesto panini and my wife had cheeze pesto and Sundried tomatoes panini. Option for salad dressing had the homemade chilli which was vegan. Shared the apple and cinnamon cake and 2 coffees. Coffee was lovely and there is soy oat and coconut milk available. It was pretty busy when we were in and service was a bit slow but it was understandable.

Vegan & Gluten free cakes!! - Edit
Great place that always has a selection of homemade vegan cakes, and often vegan AND gluten free which is a bonus for many. Nice varying lunch options like soups, panini, sandwiches, vegan sausage sandwich, and local vegan cheese options and dairy free milks. Friendly staff, limited seating inside, no outdoor seating, also had a fridge in the back with vegan cheese and drinks to buy.

Friendly and cozy - Edit
Friendly staff and lots of vegan options. Most things on the menu could be swapped for vegan ingredients and they used local "Sheese" made in Bute. We had a bacon&sheese sourdough panini and tomato&rice soup and hot chocolate. Vegan condiment options were available. The hot chocolate was lovely. So happy to find this place! Its worth making a table reservation as the place is small and can get busy.

Saved by dessert! - Edit
I was on Bute on a bikepacking trip and ended up in Rothsey around lunch time. Found this place and ordered a pea, pesto and sausage panini along with a salted caramel cheesecake. Disappointed in the panini, lacked flavour and was expensive. The cheesecake was amazing tho and would go back for that alone.
