Needs some help

I really wish I was giving this place a good review, as I so badly wanted to like it. That being said, if I could give it less stars I would (since it is fully vegan HappyCow gives it a minimum of two stars). The problem is that it just isn't good. Everything is pre-made (the owner told us), and our experience left us wondering if the place actually has a kitchen.

I ordered a burrito, which I imagined in a vegan establishment would be something with some greens and veggies. That was not the case. It was just refried beans and few (like very few) little bits of shredded vegan cheese. The owner microwaved it, and it came out cold in the middle with a soggy tortilla on the outside. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy, in which the gravy was super sweet and the biscuits had a weird texture from being microwaved.

The strangest part was that both of our orders were served on a paper plate with plastic silverware and disposable cups. A paper plate for a burrito is one thing, but serving gravy on one single paper plate was just a bad idea (at least double it up!). It was messy and leaked through. We were left wondering why the owner didn't invest in a few glass plates and actual glasses and silverware. Considering we were the only patrons in the place, it couldn't be that cumbersome to wash the dishes. So again, we concluded that maybe this really is a restaurant that doesn't actually have a kitchen or sink. I know, it doesn't seem plausible, but we couldn't justify any other reason that all of the food is pre-made, microwaved and served on paper plates.

Pros: Vegan, Inexpensive

Cons: Food is all pre-made, Food is microwaved , Checkers game is missing pieces

What a hidden treasure!

I went in to have a cup of coffee and ended up staying hours. It has such incredibly artistically beautiful decor, all constructed lovingly by hand of the owner, Bill Hosko, a true natural artist. It truly is like being in a little hidden woods. Whether you go in for coffee or to have breakfast, lunch or supper, it has so much character and detail it is like eating in the northern woods, or even better still, it felt like I was eating inside a work of art, transported somehow to a Swiss chalet in the Alps. I don't know, but it's really cool, sincerely.

And get this. Live music. When I found myself there for lunch on Friday, Danielle, a local flutist, played for hours the sweetest music I have ever had the pleasure of listening & dining to.

I love this place and the people who work there. Lovingly created, vegan food, gentle for the soul. I can't wait to go back.

Pros: Beautiful artistic decor, Warm, friendly staff, Excellent comfort food with vegan flare

Cons: Just getting started

friendly owner and tasty food

The cafe is fully decorated. I liked the trees inside. Parking is available on the street at a meter or nearby ramp. Owner is very friendly and will make anything on the menu or combinations using the ingredients. Cherry muffins were great as was the taco salad. Recommend checking it out. The prices are very reasonable. I uploaded a photo of the menu as of Feb 2017.

Pros: all vegan, cheap

Cons: limited options, cash only
