Love this place! - Edit
We loved this vegan restaurant so much that we came back three times during our stay in Funchal. Food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. We were so happy to find they have the traditional Bolo de Caco, but then vegan of course!

The only all-vegan eatery in town - Edit
A 45-minute walk from Funchal centre (or bus or taxi). I enjoyed a very good pasta dish and passionfruit cheesecake. The Sinful Pasta had pieces of asparagus, mushrooms, black olives, etc. Only one dessert was available. (Nov-2023)

Amazing vegan food at good price - Edit
This restaurant is located in the hotel district of Funchal but is accessible by bus (or a long walk) from where we were staying in Funchal old town. The staff were lovely and friendly, you could just walk in and take a seat. They do take reservations over the phone, but there were a lot of tables free, though these fill up fast! We got there 10 minutes after evening opening and within 30 minutes all the tables were gone! Lovely vibe, tasty food and it’s a good price too!
Read morePros: Well priced , Friendly staff , Tasty vegan food which isn’t ‘generic’
Cons: Fills up fast so get a table early , Reservations are via phone only

We tried the Passion fruit cheesecake and the Bounty cake. The cheesecake was phenomenal, the best vegan cheese cake I‘ve ever tried. The bounty cake was good as well.

Always Amazing!!! - Edit
We had another great meal at Mundo vegan! We are so happy that this place exists… no need to worry if dishes are vegan as EVERYTHING is plant based and always freshly prepared. We had the sinful pasta and the chili non carne and both were amazing.
Read moreLet’s also not forget the incredible deserts… the cakes are just out of this world. I was always a fan of cheesecake and it’s hard to find a good vegan cheesecake but the blueberry cheesecake from Mundo is just heaven! So moist and tasty!!
Thank you Katya and team for a wonderful evening and a lovely birthday surprise for my partner. ❤️❤️
Pros: All Vegan Menu, Incredible deserts

Nice little vegan place - Edit
As vegan food options are limited in Madeira, we had to pay a visit to the only 100% vegan restaurant in Funchal. Mundo vegan has a laid back atmosphere, the staff is really nice and the food we had was tasty. Although we didn‘t expect the Rainbow Bowl to be served cold, it was delicious nonetheless.

Failure - Edit

The staff were very welcoming and the food was served within 15 minutes. As Funchal has limited vegan options, the long list of options come as a welcome surprise.

Early dinner reservations - Edit
We ate at Munro Vegan Again, and learned to make reservations for a 6pm (opening time for dinner) if you want to eat early and on the patio reservations are your best bet. There can be a line waiting for this restaurant to open. This was the first time the bacalow style cakes were available. They are magical! I don’t know how they can make the fresh flavor of the sea without fish. Also had the Chocolate cake. I have found most vegan baked goods in Madeira to be on the dry side; but Mundo Vegan had a wonderfully most cake. Vacation is over and I will miss this place.

Dear world: Mundo Vegan - Edit
A charming, must visit place near Funchal. For starters, we had a soup of the day (lentil) and bolos de caco (authentic Madeirense); mains I had a burger and my wife had the vegarbonara which were lovely and hearty dishes. I was gutted to have missed out on the traditional Portuguese bacalhau plant based alternative dishes as they were sold out but goes to show their popularity. Staff were so friendly, and special shout out to the founder and chef Cátia who I had a pleasant conversation with after our meal about veganism and Portugal. I couldn’t resist the look of the vegan cakes on the counter and thanks again for your generosity and warmth. Keep up the great work! 💚

Burgers mainly - Edit
Vegan restaurant. A lot of burgers. Two bowls. About 10% on the menu wasn’t available. In the restaurant there is a strong “deep-fried smell”. Staff friendly. All in all we were missing something. It didn’t feel cordial and authentic to us.

Nice vegan Restaurant - Edit
I went there last week with my boyfriend and we ordered the “Get dirty Burger” and the the vegan pasta with broccoli and both had a smoothie. The Sunflower Smoothie was really tasty. The Burger was great as well, but the French fries were really salty. The pasta was really tasteless. The service was good, but unfortunately when we got there a lot of the food options were not available, which was really sad since we’ve got there at 18:40 o’clock (so just shortly after their break). I’d still recommend going there, since it’s also quite hard to find vegan or vegetarian options on Madeira and some of the food was really tasty!
